1. Create: Submit an original music composition, between 30 and 45 seconds as a wav file format. We’re looking for commercial background music — something that could play underneath a television or radio ad.
   
   
2. Contest Theme: We want you to build an audio time capsule and send us backwards 35 years. Recreate the decade that you remember, or maybe the one that you imagine: full blown wah-pedal funk, laid back country-rock, deep island dub or fuzz-bomb black-light metal. We want to hear it all. Whoever creates the best nostalgic mood wins the sweet, sweet prizes.
3. Upload: Upload your entry like any other audio file, and include the word ‘Contest’ in the title. Once accepted, the audio inspectors will add the entry to the Sounds of the 70's contest Lightbox, for the whole iStock community to hear. If you aren’t already an audio contributor, apply now.
4. Win: You may submit up to 2 entries. However, you are only eligible to win 1 prize.
5. The audio inspectors will listen to all of the entries and narrow the field to a shortlist of 15 finalists. Then, our guest judge Dan McManus will select the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from the final 15 finalists. Contest runs from February 18, 2009 at 4 p.m. MST to March 31, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. MST. The winners will be announced on April 23, 2009.
