Top The file I downloaded isn't a vector EPS, it's a ZIP. How do I get the EPS?

Our EPS files are provided inside a ZIP folder. Some web browsers will automatically open downloaded ZIP files for you, but others will save the ZIP file directly to your computer. To access the EPS, double click on the ZIP file.

Top What does a logo design download contain?

You will receive two files in your download: One vector EPS file (Adobe® Illustrator 8.0 compatible) and a PNG file with a transparent background. Artists can also include alternate versions of their design; if they have, you will see the previews on the file close-up page prior to purchasing.

Top Why won't the ZIP folder un-ZIP?

  1. Check your browser's Download Manager to ensure the ZIP file has finished downloading to your computer.
  2. If the folder won't open when you double click the ZIP file, try shortening the ZIP folder name to eight characters or less.
  3. If the ZIP folder has downloaded but won't open after you've shortened the file name, please try re-downloading the file within 24 hours after your first try. You can access your previously downloaded files by clicking on 'Account Details > Financials > View Image Downloads.'

Top Why aren't the shapes in the EPS file editable?

  1. Please ensure you have opened the file labeled 'EPS'.
  2. Open the EPS file into your vector editing software and open your 'Layer' palette. If you see a lock icon next to the layer, click on it to unlock the layer so that you can edit the shapes.

Top Will the EPS file open into my vector-editing program?

Our vector files are saved as EPS files which are compatible with most older vector programs. However, if your vector editing software is more than eight years old you may not be able to open the file. If this is the case please contact Support for an alternate file format.

Top Why are there thin blue lines across the EPS file?

Some illustrators use what are called 'guide lines' to help them align object within their artwork. These lines will not show when you print the artwork, though if you find them distracting you can turn them off. You can turn off the guide lines in Adobe® Illustrator under 'View > Guides > Hide Guides.'

Top What size/resolution is an EPS file?

Vector EPS files are not resolution dependent, and can be scaled to any size that you require without losing image quality.

Top How much do logos cost and how does iStockphoto determine their values?

Logo designs are priced based on criteria such as the amount of detail in the image, originality, creativity and style, and use of color, shape and line.
Logos are priced accordingly at:

100 credits
200 credits
400 credits

1,000 credits

Top Can I still use a logo design even if I don't have vector-editing software?

Vector designs will open into many photo-editing programs and can be saved as JPEGs, TIFFs, PDFs, or other raster file formats. They can also be imported into page layout programs like InDesign and Quark. If you are unable to open the file into a vector or raster program, please contact Support and let them know which file format you require.

Top When I buy a logo, can iStockphoto change the name in the logo to my business name?

Yes, we sure can. When you buy a logo, you will be given the option to buy a "logo name change." Make sure you are buying a logo that will accommodate the character count of your company or organization's name. If your company name has too many characters for the design, it won't fit or look good.

  1. Purchase the logo and "logo name change."
  2. Enter your company or organization name.
  3. We'll get back to you with the name change within two business days (MST).
  4. If you have any questions, please contact Support.

Top Can I make changes to the logo after I've purchased it?

Absolutely. You can move elements around, change the colors, put in your company's name, etc.

Top Can other people use the same logo as me?

No. The logo you purchase can only be purchased once from iStock and it will be removed from the website as soon as you've downloaded it. No one else can purchase it from iStock.

Top Do iStockphoto logos include a Legal Guarantee?

Unlike the rest of iStockphoto's royalty-free collection, logos are not royalty-free because you can only purchase them once. They do not include a Legal Guarantee. iStockphoto has rigorous standards for the legal safety of its collection, but it is the client's responsibility to do their own due diligence regarding use of their logo.
