Regardless of which method you choose, you first must sign up for the Referral Program. To do so, simply select 'Referral Program' from the 'My Account' tab on the bottom left of the iStockphoto website and follow the instructions.
One of the easiest ways to refer new members to iStockphoto is by sharing files, articles and profile pages web pages using the Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Email logos that appear throughout the site.
As long as you've joined iStockphoto and opted-in to the Referral Program, whenever you share using these buttons, you'll earn your referral payout for everyone who joins iStockphoto and makes a qualifying purchase after clicking your link.
By creating a referral URL that you can embed in banners, photos and other files on your website or blog, you can earn a referral payout for every new member who clicks through to iStockphoto and makes a qualifying purchase.

You can earn a referral payout when you refer new members who make a qualifying purchase within 30 days of clicking on your link.
You'll only earn the referral payout for the new member's first purchase. The referred purchaser must not be a current member and cannot have previously had an iStockphoto account or you won't receive the referral payout.
There is no referral payout for referring new contributors to iStockphoto.
There are a number of referral payout plans that you can choose from when you refer new members to iStockphoto.

Receive 20 credits (a $30+ USD value) for every new customer you refer who makes a single purchase of 30 credits or more within 30 days of clicking your link.
Earn 20% on the sale of a new customer's first credit pack purchase within 30 days of clicking your link, with no minimum purchase and no cap on your commission.
Please note that you can change your referral payout plan by going to the 'Referral' tab on the 'Preferences' section of your account. You can only change your payout plan once per month.
Before you can earn your referral bonus, your referred member will need to follow three simple steps:
No matter how you refer new members, you'll only receive credit for the ones who come to the site after first clicking your link. Once they do, they'll get a cookie that tags them with your unique referral ID for 30 days, so they'll need to have cookies enabled in their web browser.
As long as cookies are enabled, regardless of which pages on our site they visit (or if they leave the site and return at a later date), they will be tracked as your referral.
Please note: the cookie will not be wiped out unless another referrer sends that same customer to the site and generates a sale or if the referral clears their cookies from their browser.
After clicking your referral link, the prospective member will then have to sign up for their own free iStockphoto account before they can make a purchase and earn you your referral payout.
The last step in the process is for the referred member to make a purchase within 30 days of clicking your link.
If you've selected the $20 Flat Rate or 20 Credits payout plan, they'll need to purchase 30 credits or more in a single transaction for you to qualify for the referral payout. All subscriptions will count as qualifying purchases.
If you've selected the 20% Commission payout plan, there are no minimum or maximum purchase limits for your referred member. Any purchase they make will earn you your referral payout.
When new customers come to iStockphoto through the Referral Program, they'll receive 10 free credits that they can use within 30 days of joining. From time to time, iStock might offer extra incentives, so make sure you are subscribed to our promotions communications so you can stay up-to-date on when we offer promotional bonuses.
No. You will only earn a referral payout for new members who do not currently have an iStockphoto account and never have had an iStockphoto account.
A member has up to 30 days to make a purchase after clicking your referral link, so it can take some time. Once they've made a purchase, there is a 4-day waiting period if you've selected the Credits payout plan, and a 10-day waiting period if you've selected the Flat Rate or Commission plans.
You can view the status of your referrals on the 'Referral Details' page. Simply click on the 'My Account' link at the bottom of the screen. Then click on 'Referral Details'.
Once a referred member makes a purchase, their Referral Status will show as 'Pending'. If everything is good with their purchase, it will become 'Approved' after 4 days for Credit payout plans and 10 days for Cash and Commission payout plans. If the transaction is reversed for any reason or appears to be fraudulent in any way, the Referral Status will show as 'Rejected'.
Once you've been enrolled in the Referral Program, you'll be able to see detailed information about your referrals. Simply click on the 'My Account' link at the bottom of the screen. Then click on 'Referral Details'.
From the 'Referral Details' page, you'll be able to view a breakdown of your referred members by Member Name, Referral Type (Banner, Link, Email or Social), Referral Status (Pending, Approved or Rejected), the Date Referred and the referral payout you received, if applicable.
Once you're enrolled in the Referral Program, you'll be able to see detailed information about your performance in the program. Simply click on the 'My Account' link at the bottom of the screen. Then click on 'Referral Program'.
From this main page, you'll be able to view your total Referral Program earnings, along with a breakdown of your earnings by referral type (Banner, Link, Email or Social). To see your current account balance, click 'Account Balance' on this page.
For more detailed information on your referrals, including their Member Name, Referral Status and the Date Referred, click 'Referral Details' at the bottom of the page.
Clicks/Views is a statistic that shows you the number of times your banner's been clicked divided by the number of times it's been shown (also known as impressions). This will give you a good idea of how well your banners are performing - the higher the number, the better you're doing. In marketing terms this is often called the clickthrough rate or CTR.

Once you've accumulated more than $100 in referral earnings, there are two ways to request a payout, depending on whether you're an iStockphoto contributor or not.
To request a payout of earnings, simply use the contact feature and select the 'Payment Request' option. You have the option of receiving your payout via PayPal, Moneybookers, Payoneer MasterCard™, or check. All funds are paid in US dollars. Please confirm when making your payout requests that the email address included in your ticket is the one associated with your PayPal or Moneybookers account, and that your personal information is up to date. iStockphoto ONLY sends check payments to the name and address listed in your account.
You can also convert your earnings into credits. To convert your earnings, click on My Account -> Profile. Then under the 'Financials' tab, click on the 'Convert Earnings to Credits' link.
