Many photographers seem to enjoy taking pictures of old things. I certainly do. Whether it’s a barn, farm implement, church or a classical old building there can be a lot of beauty in these old treasures. Early morning or late evening light enhances the color and brings out the beauty of rusty metal, weathered wood, brick and stone. I like to capture these “moments in time” whenever I see them because they soon disappear. Many of the barns and artifacts I have photographed over the past 35 years are no longer around. My hope is that by capturing these objects digitally or on film, I am doing my part to preserve them for future generations. Some people may call these objects junk but to me they are treasures from the past.
