2.1 - Quality Standards : Creative

A minimal design can be a designer's dream, however this is accomplished in the quality of execution. Flash files contained in the iStock library are added for their stock quality, usability and quality. When creating your flash files keep these tips in mind when contributing the final piece:

Readable Text: Small text is trendy, unreadable text is pointless and hurts functionality. Aim to make your flash preview text readable (especially if text is essential to interactivity or demonstration).

Negative / Blank Space: Excessive space takes away from the quality of a design, especially when placed on an unessessary document color background. The aesthetic of a stock flash file is just as important as the the quality of code. Create your flash preview as closely cropped as possible to show off the file's functionality.

Rushed Construction: Once you've completed the code, be sure to test functionality for improvement, and spend sufficient time in the design to showcase the flash's possibilities. Pay attention to typography: well-incorporated text can increase sales and boost ratings.

Compression: Flash submissions must meet the same strict compression standards as photography. When incorporating elements, make sure their quality and display example is of the highest quality, and does not contain any distortion.

Embedded URL or Watermarks: We all want to showcase our personal portfolio site, however doing so through your flash SWF/FLA file is prohibited. Under no circumstance should a preview file link to an outside source. If you would like downloaders to know more about your work, include a TXT file in your ZIP.
