iStockphoto - Stock Flash Training Manual

2.2 - Quality Standards : Technical

Building you flash ZIP checklist:

Take time to prep your ZIP with all the required neccessities:

1. One working .FLA file (RGB color only)

2. Alternative flash version, such as Flash 5.0, Flash MX, etc. (optional)

3. One working .SWF published piece

4. Editable flash reference file, such as PHP or XML (optional)

5. Instructions .TXT on using and modifying the file

RGB Color: Artwork within Flash files should be in RGB color spectrum ONLY.

Layer Naming Convention: Rather than leave your layers in a default mess, stick to a standard naming convention while composing your file, such as: actions, button #1, dynamic text, etc.

Fonts and Dynamic Text: When using irregular fonts (and not standards, such as Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, etc) convert all text to OUTLINE (PC: CNTRL B; MAC: CMD B / Modify > Break Apart). This does not apply to dynamic text (text used to display variable text, predominantly used in preloaders).

Do Submit

Non-standard fonts converted to OUTLINE (to add to your design)

Do Not Submit

Non-standard fonts NOT converted to outline (editable). For dynamic editable text use standard fonts such as: Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, etc.

Flash Text Effect Plug-ins and Apps: Use of overly simple text effect plug-ins, with no other supporting features, should be limited in contributions. Incorporate these features as secondary design elements to the composition.

Hidden Links / Malicious Action Scripts: Under no circumstance are hidden links or malicious action scripts to other sites acceptable. Script that could attack a user's system, for example, authored content, or working in conjunction with a web server to find out the contents from the local file systems, is strictly prohibited. Abuse will result in a siteban.

Unessessary Layers, Artwork, Action Scripting: Make sure the flash file is clean before submission and that there are no unnecessary layers, artwork and/or action scripting.
