Batch Requests

As many of you know, here on the admin side, we have the ability to create batch keyword fixes. That is, we can create a set of images (kinda like a lightbox), and apply a setwide keyword action. Removing Term X from all of them, for instance, or adding Term Y. It's a much faster way than wikiing to make broad changes.


If you have any examples of batches that need to be run, you can always sitemail me, ducksandwich, or Keywords. Or, to make it easier, you can now use this forum thread to make requests. Just add your reply below with an example of a term that has a lot of erroneous images and we'll see about making a batch out of it. Good examples of batches are typically searches that suffer from bad disambiguation or translation. Outright spam is harder to isolate with booleans - we can still batch it, but it takes a little more work.


So let's hear it... post your batch requests here.

/My pet peeve, possibly minor compared to some others.


A "gas meter" is a meter installed in houses and factories etc for measuring the usage of natural gas. A gas meter is not a "pressure gauge", a "fuel pump", a "gasoline pump", an "alarm clock", a helicopter cockpit"....


Please remove "gas meter" from the images in this lightbox called not-a-gas-meter

That all said, keep the offenders coming. 

Greeting card or Christmas card are usually pretty bad, since people tend to suggest images that could be used for cards instead of images with cards. Actually all 'cards' suffer.

I thought that was such a good idea - setting up a lightbox with 'offenders' - that I gave it a try. It's only a few weeks since David added hind (doe) to the CV, and I thought I'd check out that search.

It might be clearer if hind (doe) became hind (female deer). There are a few rabbits in the search. Anyway, I picked out the more obvious miscreants - mostly not deer at all, and a few that are very obviously stags (not female deer). Total wiki'd: 133 out of about 1700.

Not a hind.

ETA: I showed no favour. One of the stags is mine.

Hi Ethan


Have you got a face recognition prog that will check for the keywords 'beautiful' and 'attractive' and then determine whether they apply? Could be a big job I think

LOL, not sure we're going to touch that one...


 

When you do a batch removal does every image with a removed keyword generate a notification email to the contributor about the removal?


It would be nice to know, as well as educational to the offenders.

A bit like telling loving parents that their weans don't look 'adorable'!

113631 search results for Black (Descriptive Color) AND White (Descriptive Color)
when most files ought to be tagged "Black and White" to describe the type of photography practiced.

356 search results for Olive (Fruit) AND Oil (Fossil Fuel)
when most files ought to be tagged "Olive Oil" as food but not petroleum is the subject.

Your first example might be tough to run as Booleans, as there are likely many images in there that legitimately qualify for "Black" and "White" (while also possibly but not necessarily qualifying for "Black and White").


The second example - Olive Oil - looks like a perfect job for Señor Batchissimo.

many of which ought to DA as (Eyeware) or (Material)?

[eta: Or, even, supplant same with "Magnifying Glass" or "Window"? "Glass" is a problem; enough said.]

 16 pages of wrongly keyworded images from the first 100 pages of search results sorted by age ( in case anybody wants to cover the remaining 500 pages)

Hopefully we'll have so many helpful batch request suggestions that it'll regularly be on top of its own volition


As Liza said, there are many verbs being misused in food images (cooking, tasting, eating, baking etc etc) and like-wise with foody locations (a plate of food with no discernable background does not a bakery, deli, restaurant or commercial kitchen make   )
