First of all, thanks to everyone who pitched in with feedback regarding our plans to start selling Logos here at iStock. There were tons of great suggestions and the whole discussion really helped us with the final decisions.

We are now ready for your logo uploads.
All you have to do is apply:
1. Read the Logo Training Manual. It covers everything you need to know – file formats, quality standards, categories, use of typefaces and legal requirements. Read it here.
2. Take the quiz and upload your sample images. Once approved you can get to work uploading. Please direct any questions to the Logos forum.
3. If you are an Exclusive iStock illustrator, you are already approved. (You should still read the manual though.)

Pricing
After hearing the feedback from the community, we've decided to increase the prices on logos. These prices will be based on creativity, consistency of style, use of color/shape/line, originality and the level of detail. The price levels will be:
• 100 credits
• 200 credits
• 400 credits
• 600 credits
• 1,000 credits
iStock will pay a base royalty rate of 50% per logo design for the first 6 months. We’ll give advanced notice for the rate going forward after that. iStock logos will only be sold once and only available on our site. After a logo is purchased it will be indicated as “sold.”

iStock will make the name changes
Clients will be able to request a single text change when they purchase a logo, to insert their name. iStock's internal team will handle all of this. So you, the contributor, won't have to be involved at all. Name changes will happen within two business days and cost 15 credits (which will go to iStock).

Categories
The manual contains a complete list of logo categories which will help customers do searches related to what their business or organization does – automotive, computer, floral, food/drink, religious etc. Let us know if you spot any we've missed.

Logos do not include Legal Guarantee
Unlike the rest of iStock’s collection, logos are not "royalty-free". They can only be purchased once. They are not eligible for the Legal Guarantee. iStock has rigorous standards for the legal safety of its entire collection, but it will be the client’s responsibility to do their own due diligence regarding their logo and its use.

Get going
We will start selling in a few months. In the meantime, read the Training Manual and start uploading. There will be no upload limits and we will still give a $5 BONUS if you create one of the first approved logo designs by January 1, 2010 – and another $5 if we reach 10,000 approved logos by that date. So submit as many as you can. Read the Logo Training Manual and show us what you've got!
