Hey all.

So I'm starting this thread for two reasons. Firstly, have any other iStockers jumping in on Movember this year?

For those not in the know, Movember started in Australia in 2003 by a couple guys wanting to create a way for guys to be actively involved in their own health. You can read all about it on the website, but basically starting clean shaven on Movember 1st each year, you grow a Mo (or Moustache if you will) over the course of the month, raising money as you go. The money raised goes to support mens health initiatives, specifically male depression and prostate cancer. In Australia each year close to 3,000 men die from prostate cancer and one in eight will suffer from depression - many of whom do not seek medical help.

Now I'm a half-blood ranga, so I've avoided participating in Movember up to this point as I look just plain rediculous with an orange tinted Mo. Recently however my grandfather was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, and it convicted me when Movember came around to loose my pride to support him. So a couple days late, I joined the cause!

So the second reason I've started this thread, if anyone would like to support Movember, feel free to sponsor me via the website, sponsor anyone else that may post in this thread thats participating, or directly to Movember or their supported charities.

If anyone else is mo-ing, I'll try to keep this post up to date with your links too.

hahhahah my husband tried but by the 4th day it got so itchy he shaved it off. it looked good though! he donated money instead

All the best and good wishes for your grandfather. I've done my bit with the 'stach' farming a few years back. Not likely to repeat any time soon; drinking out of cans hurt like hell and was often accompanied by a painful 'twang' sound when the can ripped out another hair, lol.

Cheers for the support guys, both for me and my Pa. I shaved off all the 'excess' facial hair today, and have already got some comments I look like a ranga version of my dad. I'll have to post some photos when I look a bit more "decent" as a mo-wearer.

We have a few guys in the office growing some lip dirt right now. It's pretty hilarious. I've been sporting a beard for the last little while so I'm ahead of the curve. I will try and convince the fellas to post a shot of their soup strainers before the end of the month.

@ Canadian: Word, lol. My beer comes in bottles now.

Actually I just pulled the plug on a week old goatee. I'll start again from scratch, so to speak, and see what I can sprout by the end of the month. Or whenever it is that Mrs. Emyerson puts the kibosh on the facial foliage.

So I promised I'd get a photo up, so here's one I took on my iPhone on the 15th. Im away for the weekend, but will have to get up another shot when I get back, as its starting to darken now, so I dont look like I got a kiss from a orangutang so much anymore.
