End of Initial Rating Lightbox?

I've been keeping the Initial rating 5 lightbox for several years now, and I'm thinking of shutting it down - for a couple of reasons.


1. My time - I've currently got a stack of sitemails requesting addition - and I'm having trouble finding time to add them all (BTW for those of you that include links in your sitemails - thanks!). I'm currently moving house, buying a property, and dealing with a 1 year old who's teething - so I'm not getting any sleep.


2. With the vetta collection it feels a little redundant.


3. Ability to be accurate - when I started the lightbox, I had some hope of checking over the recently accepted files and eyeballing ones that I thought may have been given an IR5 - now that's impossible with the number of new uploads.





So the question is, what happens now. Should I shut it down completely? Or would someone like to volunteer to administer the lightbox?


For those of you who haven't seen it - it's here. Basically it contains all the images that I've found or been told about that contain an rating of 5 by the inspector who inspected it and accepted it into the collection.


(BTW please don't sitemail me with suggestions for it - it's on ice until we decide what to do with it.)

I am not sure if lightboxes should be capped.You have managed the lightbox well and done a service for the community.I hope someone can take it off your hands and you get some sleep.

Love the lightbox, always browse through it, been part of my istock experience for years. Maybe there can be people you can add to help administrate it? Flutter loves lightboxes

Amanda, You are so beloved here it should be easy to get a surrogate to take over.


I fear many of iStock's more cherished, friendly, small village type features such as a selfless serving LB such as yours are decaying as the size of the infrastructure increases and lack of 'intimacy' are lost. The self-serving LB's will always be there though!

I think I can help. I can add sitemailed suggestions and check the vetta files periodically (good way of finding initial ratings).


I won't search for initial ratings in any other way bacause it's impossible - I promise to add anything that I stumble upon though.

I also offer my help with this wonderful LB! I spend quiet lot of time for surfing throught the best of iStock images and will be happy to add those with IR5 to the LB and deal with sitemails.

Ok - the three volunteers are added as admin and so should be able to add images to the lightbox. I'll be placing a sticky at the top of my blog of people willing to field requests to add (so far that's Maria). Anyone else?

Thanks hidesy and all the volunteering effort, I love the initial rating lightbox and am glad to know that it is going to continue.

I'd hate to see it go away before I have a couple files in there. It's something I really strive for. I'm still new, but if you need additional help, please let me know.

Perhaps this could be automated ?

Don't intend to hijack you thread hidesy, but how do you know if an image of your own is given an initial rating of 5 by an inspector. do you receive a site mail or is it as simple as when a file is approved, its statistics show 1 view and 5.0(1) rating. if so... here is my latest

Matt, if you look at who gave you the rating it will say 'Initial Rating' instead of a member name.

Dont know if you want some suggestions for your lightbox at some point, but I have a post in my profile page blog with about 18 or so of my initial rates files over the past few months.

how do you recognise the inspecotr evaluated a picture by 5?

It will state initial rating under the ratings area.
