I came across this article today. A model posed for a big company years ago and then found his photo likeness on a coffee jar. The court awarded him $15 million (twice what he sued for). The employee? Um...apparently neglected to ensure he got a valid photo model release.

It's not a model release issue. The model posed for some test shots, and his contract stipulated that he be paid extra if the photos were used in the final packaging. They used the photos and didn't pay him anything extra. So he was awarded damages.
