Are pictures of statues allowed in istock? Or is it considered an artwork of which i do not own the copyright to? I have some images of tombstones and statues and i'm not sure if it's alright to upload.

It can be a grey area regarding statues. Some are ok and some are not.
Pretty sure tombstones must have personal names removed.

Try to steer clear of the statues if you can. I know you already have them, but I'd not go out of my way to continue to shoot them. You might be setting yourself up for disappointment after a long wait for them in the queue and possibly being bumped up into the executive queue for a decision.

For tombstones, only if there are no names on them...

there are also other elements of which it is not clear to me wether they can be accepted:

- buildings. I taught architectures have the intelligent rights, so they are protected against beïng published...
And what about details of a building?
(although I notice that this seems not to be a problem on Istock?)

- pictures of written text (which may also be a copyright issue?)

- products/objects of which the brand isn't visible, but could be recognised as beïng produced by a certain organisation (pictures with mobiles, tools, machines, and othr objects)

it seems to me that there is just a thin line between what can be accepted and what not?

Here's a quick list of some items that will not be accepted into the collection.
copyright/trademarks list

writtten text:
full pages of written text in clear depiction are not permissible.
Also, I think books with titles on them.

John Deere items has not appeared on the list yet, but I know they are not permissible, even with the removal of the logo.

The rest is a grey area, yes. Some of the images that may cause questionable acceptance are taken on a case by case basis for evaluation and research. Also, check the Policy Forum out with searches to see if an answer to a specific item has been asked/answered. You can do a search of a forum by using the box on the bottom of the page.
