/TO-20-10 Lypse - October 2nd and 3rd, 2010
Friday night - October 1: - 7:00 pm - SPH - 955 Bay Street - Room # to follow.
Meet up for for orientation and social - Sutton Place Hotel - Penny's room (I'm getting a larger room with a wet bar. I will pick up one case of beer and a bit of wine - if you want more or different, please byob). I have a list of restaurants within walking distance so we can decide where to eat, drink and celebrate.
Saturday October 2 - Harbourfront on Queens Quay - PAWSWAY PET CENTRE http://www.pawsway.ca/
Morning 8:00 am to 9:00 am - arrive with lighing gear - unload.
9:00 - 11:00 am - Workshop on lighting and processing - Speakers - Arsenik and Zorani (in the conference room at the Pawsway Pet Centre)
Topic for the workshop - setting up lighting for a shoot and obtaining certain effects from it, then a speaker on software and the handling of workflow, processing (perfect isolations etc), organizing/filing/retrieving and keywording etc
There will be a quick break for lunch (I'm going to order in Pizza) then we can eat there, and then we can all do lighting set-up for the shoot under Arseniks guidance. All of our volunteer helpers are invited to come to the workshop if they wish. Christie, Roger and Stacey.
Afternoon - 12:00 to 5:30 pm - Dog owners can attend if they either sign a release to model and allow their pets to model.
Here is a link to the Dachshund and Chihauhaus groups so you can look at some of our canine models...
Plus I've arranged for some mixed breeds, then a bunch of big dogs to come in at 2:30
Shooting Pets with their owners, and models in the pet area (and outside weather permitting) where we should have Chihauhaus, mini Dachshunds, small Mixed Breeds, and some larger breeds after.
The owners are modeling in exchange for some copies of their shoot, which we can upload to a site where they can download them from. Owners are also bringing dog toys, outfits etc. as well.
Think walk the dog, playing, feeding, grooming, Dog love, Doggie dress up, etc use you imagination. Remember that multi million dollar pet industry out there Folks. Not just pet pictures, but people interacting with pets.
Saturday Evening: Dinner somewhere downtown - I've printed off a list of restaurants near the Sutton Place Hotel. We can discuss where to eat at the Workshop.
Sunday October 3 - start time: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. See schedule below* (lighting set-up starts at 7:00 am sharp)
The prestigious SUTTON PLACE HOTEL - located at Bay and Wellsley Steet in the heart of Downtown Toronto
Penthouses, suites, pool, exercise room, restaurant, foyer, concierge, lobby, boardrooms, meeting room, conference rooms, kitchen, 33 floors of on and on and on!
Let your creative juices flow.
Cost: $350.00 per person
Due to the nature of this shoot at the Sutton Place, it has been decided that we need to secure some "Professional" models in order to satisfy the needs of the Hotel in terms of the photos we must supply to them in exchange for using their premises.
The Hotel has requested some very specific shots, and because we have such a great venue to work with, we thought these professionals would help both the new and experienced of us, to have a wack at getting some in some great Vetta potential shots. This will also make us look like the professionals we are.
Because of the vastness (33 floors) we will also need to hire more hair and make-up so our models don't spend the day riding up and down in the elevators to get to us. Also, since we can shoot from early morning until late Sunday night, we will be required to get a couple of shifts of make-up/hair and models.
Straycat has offered to organize the models and releases plus we have Roger (RogerRamjet) as a model wrangler for Sunday.
Stacey Newman is joining us now as a helper for Friday and Sunday as well.
I need to discuss details, but I believe we will have Christie (friend of one of our photographers) as our Main GO-TO person for the lypse. She will work with Stacey and Roger to keep the flow with her great organizational skills so we can spend more time shooting.

* Shoot on Sunday (will do as similar thing for the Saturday shoot at Pawsway Pet Centre) will be organized as such:
START shooting at 8:00 am - end at 5:00 pm with one hour for lunch which will be supplied on Sunday only -
Four floors with four lighting stations on each floor (that is 16 sets of lights) - Photographers in groups of 4 - we will be shooting the top two floors in the morning and then the main floor and second floor in the afternoon.
Each person gets 30 minutes at each station (2 hours), then we switch floors. My goal is for 40 models - 10 per floor, which will rotate opposite the photographers so they change up and are not at the same stations with the same photogs.
THEN - Break for Supper.
FOR THOSE WHO STAY to shoot the evening... I have arranged for a Limo or two to arrive and park outside the hotel main entrance for us to shoot, right after supper.
Sunday from 6:00 pm to 10 pm - Sign up sheets will be put on each lighting station (or we can move them to where ever), those who want to shoot more, sign up and shoot away. Cat will try recruit for a small second go round of fresh models, and incorporating those that have the stamina to stay.

Excellent! Both months should be ok for me.
Posted Tue Mar 2, 2010 8:49AM
I'm interested, and both months are OK.
Posted Tue Mar 2, 2010 8:59AM
I can't commit to a date, but I will gladly help in any way that I can Penny. I'm travelling quite a bit this year
Posted Tue Mar 2, 2010 9:22AM
I will be there and am happy to help with the organization! Early October would be the best for me -- Matt's family reunion weekend is late August and I have to be there.
Posted Tue Mar 2, 2010 9:23AM
Oh, also, it's easier to book venues in the fall than in the summer -- everything's less busy. On the other hand, if we're planning to shoot outside at all, fall can be tricky ... but as we saw at Echucalypse, you can't count on the weather anyway!
Posted Tue Mar 2, 2010 9:35AM
I would be interested. Specific dates would matter more for me than general months.
Posted Tue Mar 2, 2010 10:43AM
I would be interested if it is scheduled in Oct....I'm planning on going to the Seattle.
Posted Tue Mar 2, 2010 4:49PM
I'm interested......either Aug or Oct will work for me.
Posted Tue Mar 2, 2010 4:57PM
As already mentioned in the previous thread, you can count me in. Both August & October work for me but October will likely be better.
I could also help with lighting or props or something like that.

Wad ya say, so I can forget it? LOL
Posted Wed Mar 3, 2010 6:57AM
I could be in for either dates
Posted Wed Mar 3, 2010 5:31PM
Interested. Can possibly make both times work (but don't plan around me)
Posted Wed Mar 3, 2010 5:39PM
I'll be in Halifax and Quebec City around late September, early Oct. I maybe able to attend depending on dates.
Posted Wed Mar 3, 2010 6:19PM
Sounds good to me!
Posted Wed Mar 3, 2010 9:37PM
if I have a preference, I can more likely attend in October...
Posted Thu Mar 4, 2010 11:56AM
I'll have to see closer to the date. Don't think I'll be much help organizing this one as there are way to many balls up in the air right now. But I'll definitely help with setups, etc on the day of the lypse.

I would definitely be able to come, but am I not allowed if I'm not exclusive? I'm exclusive in spirit, just not officially yet
