a BME 17 DL's...... $5!!!
Maybe there is more to come. |
Posted Thu May 20, 2010 3:21AM | I have exactly the same number of Downloads like the Month before, how many? The answer is 42, really. Does this mean something special?? |

i m quite amazed with what buyers buy in my PP files, i know some of these files will never get a dl leaving in Istock. Slowly i began to appreciate the PP as an alternate outlet, as at times i just dont upload quality content, i guess direct upload into PP is now a realistic option.
37 dls in mar and 35 in april, cant complaint.

I questioned myself how is that possible? just 37 with so many files and so many downloads here in IS??..
I got for now 334 files on PP and got 93 sales, last got 51! I guess I would prefer to have them on IS |

I just took a look at Thinkstock website, did a little key word search. Then I noticed that some of my files had very small "Max File Size" like 180 KB listed on the page while my other files are listed normally as 3 MB. I only clicked about 15 of my files there, and around 40 % of them had the "Max Fild Size" around 200 KB. It just seems so strange.
Maybe this is one of the reasons why diffrent files are better sellers in PP than istockphoto?

I have 130 files in the PP(with another 50 or so lost in limbo) and had 70 dl's in April.
I completely confused still how people are getting numbers like this. With 157 files in the PP, I had a total of 3 dl's in April. Never had more than 8.
Their bestmatch is only based on the file age... As we (exclusives) only have files older than 18months, we don't get good positions!
When will this "sort by age" issue be fixed? We were promesed a few months back that it would change, but it is still the same. I am thinking of opting out my files in protest.
Please opt out! the faster the better, more money for me and others.

bcos i sent the crapped files to PP. two months ago, I even found one of my PP file appeared in a printed magazine that came along with my daily newspaper! I got 0.32c and the buyer got it printed and circulated !!! and while it was in IS...i got zero sale !!! |

This is quite evident but still some will continue to opt out of the pp program. They are not actually protecting the istock exclusive content anymore. As sales rise, and they will, more contributors will opt in.Then the competition for sales will become very fierce indeed. |

Don't you operate a selection process, where you only offer your worst, non-selling, files on the PP? Could that explain something?
Granted, these are not my top selling images. And I don't expect them to sell at the rate of other contributors full portfolios. But a 20-fold disparity in sales? No way. Many of these sold fairly well on iStock.
Rob,
Can we please get some official feedback on when the PP search issues for Exclusives will be resolved? |
Posted Thu May 20, 2010 8:49PM | I don't have any info on that, but I'll see what I can find out. I do know that things move glacially over there in PP land (as if that wasn't apparent). |

Well, I'm obviously only guessing, but you've got a quarter of your eligible files there and in my portfolio, the bottom 20% of my files account for exactly 0% of my sales, so a 20x disparity isn't impossible. I've sold several times what you have on PP just from files that were uploaded just in the month of April 2004, six months before you joined, so you can't blame your lack of sales on age sorting. |
Posted Fri May 21, 2010 4:08AM | a lot of my images that are doing well on PP have not had any DL on istock. |
Posted Fri May 21, 2010 12:09PM | OK, and that's a wrap on April. They also completed the double-check. |

Don't hold your breath - on either of those assumptions. |

Well i'm not but when more of my content become eligible (18 month) it will be getting migrated to the PP .When that total rises i hope i will have more sales.
Exclusive contributors, who continue to opt out of the PP,and have large portfolio's with 100's of older non selling files which are sitting at rock bottom of the istock search are doing themselves what exactly in regards of opting out?
We are not given the chance to contribute to the Dollar Bin anymore so opt in and sell your crap !
Yep,it's that simple.
