When you blame yourself, you learn from it.
If you blame someone else, you don`t learn nothing, cause hey, it`s not your fault, it`s his fault, over there.

I know there is a bunch of drama surrounding this battle so I thought it was only right to share some further thoughts
In hope it may ease some of the tension

Im going to break down the battle design by design... full critique
Im going to give a score range which in my professional opinion I feel where the scores should be and a point either side as lets face it we are all slightly different.
Yes point of view is definately part of Judging and thats why there is 3 judges so its not just one point of view.

Im going to speak rather bluntly so please dont be offended Shad or ZC in anyway
To start with I felt this was one of the lower quality battles of the whole round (hence the lower scores)
In the BR scores and Judging is going to be very tight as this competition brings out some serious, well competition

So Here Goes.

R1V1 personally I do not like the strength of the colours they are a little overdone, although its a very nice pallette.
The composition of the design isnt great but it works... I like the tonal range and high contrast.
Technically this file is a bit of a mess but the one thing ZC did nail was making the different elements feel like the belong.
There also is a logical pattern for your eye to move within this design which draws you from the horse down the river.
The simplicity works but with such a simple design its always going to be hard to get a big score.
Score Range: 6-7

R1V2 Now with this design I love all the individual elments, but unfortunately they do not blend well the canvas.
The focal point of this design is very confusing, my eye is draw to 3 things, firstly the horse which is out of perspective and seems to be at an unusual angle.
Its put out of perspective by its size, if you were to take it back on the same focal plane to go beside say the first tee pee it would only take up 1/3 of the tee pee, so its either a massive tee pee or a minature indian and horse. Its also in an unusual spot to be the docal point in the bottom right hand corner.
Now the second thing my eye is drawn to is the eagle, which looks amazing... Now the other thing my eye is dawn to is the boat, now I feel that the boat feels a little cut and paste, needed some sort of shadow and I felt it was a little two bright in tonal value, by toning it back it would have taken a little bit less of my attention and let my eye wander to more pretty parts of the design.
I really feel this would have been a much stronger design without the Indian and horse, not only for the reasons above but also because they are totally different styles.
Now technically you have done a super job you definately are a photoshop master.
But theres more to a good design then beautiful elements and technical ability, I think a quick play with the composition of these elements and you would have scored a 10.
Score Range: 6-7

R2V1 This I felt was the strongest overall design, The composition meant my eye was guided perfectly, from the man pointing I then moved to the man on the boat then off along the horizon.
Awesome depth made me really feel a part of the design. I didnt so much like the muted tones and colour hue. I mean sunsets are bright, contrasty and full of colour.
This was also very creative, it used the previous elements in a very imaginative way.
Score Range: 8-9

R2V2 Now we are talking this is the Shad I know... very creative and super silky skills, I loved what was happening in this design and for this design the muted tones and colour seem to work.
Now it far from perfect, unlike ZC's previous design I felt this design lacked depth, there was to many elements in the design that were tack sharp I found it hard to lay my eyes on what should have been the focus of the design which was the girl and dragons... Using a slight gussian blur and dropping the tonal value of the background or non focal elements and brightening the key elements would have helped settle my eyes and help me focus on the beauty of the design. The 3d models you have used for this look amazing but once again sticking a few amazing elements onto a file isnt necessarily going to mean the design is going to look amazing.
Score Range: 8-9

Now I know the score range is probably only going to stir more emotions but I thought it was necessary to show how I feel (me personaly).. this battle was damn close and could have went either way.
To some it up, yes shad I feel you are probably the better photoshopper, but in this competition its not all about how well you know photoshop, or who can get there hands on the best resources. Although technical abilty and difficulty do make up for some of the judges scores, the main part of the scoring comes down to creativity, aesthetics and engaging your viewer.
In the end this battle was a split decision 1 point win...

Well said Che! Sorry for being absent lately guys, got a lot going on which I'll say more about in a more appropriate place.

Cheers to both, congrats to ZC. I hope you don`t stay upset Shad, it was close, very close. Every time we get knocked down we learn something about ourselves, what lesson you take away from this is up to you.

It wouldn`t be the BR without some drama!!
