NEW WIDGETS! Version 2.0 - For users of Mac OS X Tiger, iStockDash allows you to view your iStockphoto statistics and account information, browse the latest uploads, search for images (with thumbnails), and see the latest Blog and forum posts. Get everything iStock right from the Dashboard.
Plus, adamj's Konfabulator Widget is completely new and improved. And massive. It can do anything.

Now THAT is a widget! Great job, people!!

I personally think that the widget for mac os x—sucks. It looks..okay. the features are...okay. But when I have to allocate a forth of my screen just for 1 widget, there's something wrong there. I'm only complaining about the design. The features are great, and work well, however the design is not good. And I'm saying this because I design widget graphics, and help with the overall gui of widgets. I know how to make a widget that has a comfortable size—and css (look at the stats page). I'm actually going to continue using the old widget, since that's all I really need to see right now.

Overall, the new features are nice, but need to be applied in a smarter fashion.

In defense I'd say this widget is designed to be more appealing to non-istockers. The orange widget is really only useful for photographers. In order to add searching (a must have feature if you are going to appeal to most everyone) you have to make the widget considerably larger than the original one.

You are complaining because the stats page uses html instead of css layout? I can see complaining that you don't like how it looks but I think it is irrelevant what method was used to layout the text.

I don't think the forums page would be useful at all if it just had the latest thread titles that someone has posted to. It works fine for news articles (the example that apple used) though.

Aqua scrollbars were chosen because the one written by apple has too many limitations (can't use them more than once in a widget). They also don't work with a mouse scroll wheel.

Thanks for posting your thoughts/comments. If anyone else has anything good or bad to say about the new widget please post to this thread.
The creators would love to hear your comments.

No. Well, first of all, these are really just my opinions. When I said css, i meant the placing of the text...I don't even do programming (purely graphic design.) If you take a look at the stats page, the "block" of text is sort of sitting at the top, left of the widget; there's some wasted space right there. I'm really just saying that the actual placement of things could have been smarter, and a bit more efficient. I just believe that the placement of things, and also the size can be improved.

I don't really mind that. I really wanted people to look at figure 3-3 and 3-4. The moment I opened the widget, I said to myself "Whoa that's big!" It just gets a bit annoying when a widget is so big! If it were up to me, I would make the thumbs just a bit smaller, or make the boxes around them smaller, and just have the thread names of the forum (should be easily achieved by changing rss feed.) I just personally think that the widgets should be a reasonable size, and work well. iStockDash works well, but I think it's too big. That's all I'm trying to say. Nothing else.
