Oh wow. I rarely come to this end of the site, but Dawn (PCC) site mailed me to let me know that one of my characters had taken on a new, and very fitting name; Smithy, I love it.
When we made that portrait the session was going really well as Smithy and I are old pals, his expressions were so unreal that I was quite literally pissing my pants. Some of the shots that didn't make the cut would only have a third of his face in the frame because I couldn't hold still from laughing too hard. I just had that feeling again after seeing these images.
Great work you guys! I must check these parts more regularly.

Who would've thought that Smithy is the retro gym coach in the featured photo this week? Great capture Cameron!
And great battle guys, I'm anxiously awaiting the results!

Sorry for the delay... this is the end of the Smithy's fun-tastic adventures
zzzz....."Gosh, that twenty-thousands-leagues-under-the-sea nightmare again!"
Smithy suddenly woke up from his science-fiction dream, wet of sweat. Too much hours trying to finish his best-seller book led him to strange and fantastic mind jumps. While recovery the eyesight cause the intense and harsh summer sunlight, he thought about the editor deadline
"I will never make it damn, it's too late.... WHAAAT THEE....!!!!"
Luckily, some unexpected help let him bring his book to the editor judging...
Good luck Smithy, again.

7 - 9 = 16
R1V1 well when I first looked a the thumb of this image I didnt think to much of it, it's not until you see it in full size where you start to look a little deeper into the picture. I love that it feels that im a part of the design, that im actually down under the see in a styalised way, I very uch like the style actually reminds me of an animated movie. I have to give full points for the illusion of depth through colour and also selective focus. If I had to pick on one part of the design I think his face is a little to bright and feels like its not positioned properly.
R1V2 I had to laugh when I seen this I loved the fact you continued the story into the sub and kept it in context. The lighting on the guys faces is great the only one that doesnt seem to work as well is the dogs face which was a shame as this was sort of one of the key elements.
R2V1 Totally awesome, futurama in real life. The octomen are very well done and really took the concept to a whole other level.
R2V2 ZC steps up a gear also, with a very well polished design. The lighting in this battle is very nice although same as last time everything except on of the key elements has the same lighting where the guy doesnt have the backlit halo. I love the colours of this design just the touch of blue on the book makes a very nice highlight.
To wrap it up this had to be one of the more creative battles of the round, I really thought both of you stepped it up in round two and I believe this one maybe very close.
7 - 10 = 17
8 - 9 = 17
R1V1: Nice technique and muted soft noisy feel, but the piece just felt to be lacking a certain dynamic quality, it felt frozen/posed.
R1V2: Nice, do you sell prints of this on crushed velvet to hang in my smoking room?Love the tone and lighting, I give this round to you.
R2V1: Whoa! Nailed it! Way to take it to the next level. That;s some really nice PS work to emmerse those octopii into the scene - and I likes me some calamari!
R2V2: And again another awesome blow, the lighting in the background is great, very painterly, but in the foreground I feel you've just tried to pull too many elements into focus by using multiple lighting sources that just makes it feel uneasy and forced, some peices left in shadow from the dominant light source would have felt more natural.
Great work both of you.
7 - 10 = 17
8 - 9 = 17
R1:1 nice 3d illustration work but leaves me needing a story. Not much Photoshop work here either. R1:2 Excellent photo to start with. Nice work on the dog and background. R2:1 Now we're talkin' - excellent use of photoshop AND your 3d style. R2:2 Beautiful work here. Some lighting/shadows not quite right.
