I thought it would be a good idea if all participants signed model releases on arrival - i am sure there are plenty of interesting shots to be had of participants as well as locals in India.
Is there a model release we can sign for the whole lypse? it would be a bit of a bore to have to do it for each day.
Yes, i wanted to suggest that as well, am willing to sign a model release, of course. And when i visited Britta, she said that i am a good model. Might be ineresting shot when western people are meeting indian culture.
Made a mistake, am arriving at November 6, am leaving tomorrow morning, i was so relieved when finding out that there was an extra day to get all fixed, and prepared and packed. |

Yup ! Thanks Zorani. DIWALI is indeed our biggest, most bright & boisterous, and well-celebrated festival. Though it is a diiferent matter altogether that now, at the age of +62, most routine celebrations tend to recede into oblivion !! Cheers, Pradeep. |
Posted Fri Nov 5, 2010 12:19AM | hi you guys! I just read through your website a bit (well, quite a lot considering I'm not even going ) this morning. I have two friends in Sparkle & Shine attending so that's how I even know about it. I think it sold out in a matter of days! I have to tell you, it looks not only to be an absolutely amazing event in terms of photographing "real life" in India, but also so incredibly well thought out and planned. Well done. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the images you create!
Have a great time!

Thanks a ton for yr kind words ! Yes, we're trying our best indeed to paint a vast photographic canvas for the 32 attending photographers. It has taken quite a few months to plan things out, and everything does seem well under controal at this junctions - exactly a week before the D-Day. Cheers, Pradeep. |

GOOD LUCK, PRADEEP!
Thanks Roger ! I sure need Lady Luck my way in as much as possible. Cheers, Pradeep. |

I have a feeling Lady Luck will be with all of us. This is a trip of a lifetime for most. Everyone is most appreciative all the hard work you and your staff have put into this event Pradeep.
Thank goodness I really poured over the website you created yesterday to make sure I have all my little duckies in a row. Will be off to get my adapter plug today! Can't believe I'll be there soon. I was able to pick up a beautiful used 17mm TSE and can't wait to put it to use.

Get more than one adaptor plugs Terry. You will need as many as you have chargers for - we will be short of time to charge our equipment, and as the rooms are to shared, so will be the plug points. So better charge as many things as possible in the shortest possible time. Cheers, Pradeep. |
Posted Fri Nov 5, 2010 7:22AM | Have a fantastic time everyone! I can't wait to see the incredible photos that come from this event. |
Posted Fri Nov 5, 2010 7:22AM | Good idea...hopefully the hardware store will have more than one. |

Also starting to get everything together but there are bound to be last minute snags in spite of all Praedeeps' methiculous planning , let us just hope they add to the adventure!
My airline suddenly changed the timetable Bangkok - Delhi one week ago causing Praedeep and me extra trouble and when I wanted to write out the new electronic ticket my printer broke down.
But worst of all yesteday morning my faithful kit lens 24-105 suddenly refused to zoom, the zoom ring is more or less stuck. I have not damaged it in any way and day before yesterday it worked with no problems. I stay in a fairly small town in Thailand with few foreign tourists but fortunately a tiny Canon shop opened recently so I brought it there. Unfortunately no chance to get it repaired in time for the lypse which is not surprising, nor could I order a lens and get it in time. The shop had mostly point and shoot cameras and few lenses suitable for my 5D Mark II. No prime lenses at all, but fortunately they did have an EF 17-40 f/4L USM so that will have to do together with my longer zoom 70-200 (I love that, but it is rather heavy).
Looking forward to meeting all of you for our big adventure!

If I can get a picture of the plug-end of the cable for your chargers, may be I can stock up some hardware at my end ! |

OK then. You can probably borrow my 24-105 to shoot ! I can include you in MY group for that matter. |

That is very kind of you. I did buy the 17-40 lens and have been testing it today and it seems a decent lens, some CA, but the circumstanses for shooting have not been ideal. The longer zoom f2,8 is very good but not ideal in cramped spaces and it leaves me with no cover of 40-70. Trying to figure out in which circumstanses I use that. I think the main worry is that you (or at least I) get used to the equippment.
By the way I usually carry one adaptor plug but an extension cord with several outlets fitting my equippment.

Yup ! An extension cord with multi-plug facility is a great idea ... especially wherever the charging points are limited ! |
