I just opened this week's Amateur Photographer, and there on one of the first pages is a full page advert using Rob's outstanding Christmas Tree In The Snow, taken on his beloved Nikon - and it's a commercial for Canon!!

Shudders down the spine etc. I shoot Pentax so I am neutral here. But I can only imagine how hurt his Nikon would be. . .

Here as well online

That's hysterical! Or perhaps it's just a testament to how wonderful the shot is - that Canon would use a Nikon image anyway

My admiration for the advertising industry just grows and grows.

If only I had been there with my Pentax - I could have prevented this from happening - but then again the resulting image would have lacked a certain something or two, or three. . . not because of the camera, but because of me!

*weeps*

JK

I take great pleasure in seeing so many people getting the chance to share the moment of looking out my door that one snowy morning almost three years ago.

Thankfully it wasn't an ad for Pentax.

Kidding! I kid.

I might tell Pentax that the tree will be up in your garden shortly - I presume! New Hampshire I should think. . .

First weekend after Thanksgiving here in the US, so, this weekend weather permitting. Not sure if there will be snow yet though. You are most welcome to drop by for a snap and a coffee. Entrance fee waived for all Nikon shooters.

I would be offended, had my picture been used by a magazine called "Amateur Photographer". I mean...

True but they didn't think of that in 1884

And that is not the first time Canon used a Nikon image in their promotional material. Here is Frankreporter's image in the iStock in Action

Well, I think it just goes to show that the customer only cares about the image and not the camera the creator was using. Though in my case it was really all done in post-processing. Here's the previously never-seen before image.
