Ha! The opposite happened to me. Found World Cup soccer images of mine all over Nikon product boxes specially issued for the event. And the pictures were shot with a Canon. The captions even say so.

I have had it it the other way round. One of my airliners shot with my former beloved Canon 20D was full-page advertising the Nikon D300.

Got to say I pretty surprised a mishap like this happened and more than once. I actually used to work on Canon USA's online advertising between '08 and '09. When ever we used stock images, we always had to reach out to gettyimages, then have them reach out to a bunch of stock photographer who's images we liked and ask them which camera they used. Out of a list of 20 images usually about half are not from Canon Cameras. Never once when I worked on the account did any non Canon images ever go live as an advertisement.

Shouldn't this be in the iStock in Action forum?

I think it's too funny to go in there. We all need a good laugh.

We once did some point-of-sale advertising stuff for Nikon ... and didn't once check what camera the photos were shot with. Maybe Canon, Nikon, Leica, Hasselblad? Heck, maybe it was shot with an iPhone

I think it doesn't really matter, except if the photo is to show a specific ability of the advertised camera.

Years ago when I worked for a stock photographer one of our image shot with a Nikon on Kodak film was used by Fuji Film's panoramic disposable camera ad
