There are several contributors that specialized in Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas themes. Some are selling over 1,000 images a day during this time. So, applying averages...

What the rest of us should learn from this is that we need to flood collection with those type of images if we want to stay in game.

I don't know about that. I've got a pretty robust Holiday selection, and I've never gotten close to 1,000 a day.

Yeah, I can think of one top contributor who's port is somewhere around 40%+ holiday images that may be around there in Q4. But that's probably it.

What worries me more is that now is the second half of December and probably the last active week of the year. Still we don't have a normal usable stats for the second most important parameter on our profile - RCs. Instead we have a recent history of unplanned hardware maintainance blackouts, a half-tested search engine, a lot of bugs and the promised Vetta/Agency mirroring on sister sites is delayed. This is something that should not have happened if the last 3 months are the hottest. I really don't think that a marketing experiment (the Vetta sale) is a real compensation because eventual sales cannot compensate us for the actual problems.

But what is great is that we all have enthusiasm! I am very very grateful to the iStock team all the improvements and great new things! So much new exciting stuff and new horizons!

I am sure iStock understands this month is crucial for a lot of us. Perhaps just not the right time for so many experiments. I am also sure iStock knows that we are still the ones who bring our best content here and load the big iStock machine with rocket fuel!

I am optimistic as iStock's community is great and is based on trust and mutual help.
I believe iSanta will put something for us under the Christmas tree

This is the way this whole thing was planned. They knew it. Istock is not for us any more, the site has been restuctured to promote either vetta or agency. It;s private club. Ever since the seach engine changed I am sellin about 70% less and my dec. will end up about 50% less than previose years. I'm so aggrivated with this site.

If the Getty RCs would apply to my iStock total, I would be close to keeping my current level instead of dropping. Will the money I made from having clips at Getty equal out the lost income here? Hmmmm .. not looking like it. At most in some months it may even out. But will not be the overall boost one would expect from having files at Getty also.

Steady on. I also think the changes are grim and ghastly, but it appears you've contributed three files since 2007. I've uploaded well over 2,000 in 2010 and I'm only just staying ahead.

Yeah the whole '50% of sales in the last 4 months' was close to the truth in previous years but certainly has not panned-out this year. Two major price hikes in March and September have certainly scared away custom. And then what little hope I had of the usual Christmas boost has been well and truly squashed by this new 'Search' fiasco this week.

Yeah the three files I had uploaded were when I had plans to start uploading again after some herd times that kept me from uploading. Then came the announcments about the royalty changes. So I got discouraged. The site isn't what it used to be. If you cant do this full time then its not worth the time. It used to be but not any more.

But royalty changes had to be done. For 1 year the number of black diamond users has become x3 and the number of bronzes is x4. It is quite obvious that iStock had to change something. Else we would all have to go.

If anyone used to sit and just count his high % royalties just because he made thousands of downloads years ago when neither quality nor competiotion was that high - these days are gone.

It is time for high quality competitive work if one wants to stay in business.

We have been round and round about this and there is many of us that believe even if we were all getting 40% istock sill keeps 60% of something they dont produce from thousands of members. I dont want to start another thread about this I was just stating I feel screwed over and discouraged from uploading.

My stats came no where near 50% of the year in the last 3 months. I will be knocked from 40% to 25%. It would be great to hear some kind of announcement one way or the other. High vector goal is simply out of reach.

--Corrected to say 25%, not 20%

With respect, this thread is going off topic. Should IS be making an announcement about the royalty rates on Jan 1st before the Xmas break or in mid-January? They have said that the original figures weren't set in stone AND would be reviewed if necessary.

Unfortunately, if your dropping exclusivity, you'll be getting less than 20%. If you remain exclusive, the lowest you can get is 25%.

I'm sure it wasn't the OP's intention, but turning this into a sales discussion thread is not likely to help the situation at all.

I have no problem with the new ranking system. My problem is unreasonably high goal for diamonds.

Hmmm, I'm not going to stay the same by a matter of a few hundred credits or so. October was my BME in all of my time here at iStock, November and December are the worst months of this year and worse than most months last year. I have new uploads that don't even show any views which has never happened before and others with so few views that I really don't think they are showing up in searches. Very disheartening since I was on track to keep my percentage.

I have to agree.  Kelly's statement that 50% of sales occur durring the last 4 months is pretty far from the truth.  At least for me.
