I have found for some time downloads are not being attributed to files when looking at the portfolio view. It appears to be effecting Best Match position too.

Normal when a new file gets a download it will move higher than other files uploaded at the same time. Currently they are not moving up, just sinking. I am presuming that this is because the download indicator still says zero and it is not registering with the search.

Has anyone else noticed this problem? And when is it likely to be addressed?

The download count in the portfolio view is not shown in realtime anymore (or at the moment). It updates at the daily rebuild of the database (the same time new images are added). The numbers in the file close-up view and in the my uploads view are realtime and correct though. Rogermexico has said that the BM is calculated in realtime with those numbers. My own observation is that if a file has downloads it will move up in the porfolio after the daily update so I guess there's no problem with this. Off course the daily update hasn't been daily over the holidays and that maybe makes it look like it isn't working as it should.

ETA: And even before this, when the download count was in realtime in the port view, the BM changes wasn't made until the database rebuild so the only change I can see is that the dl numbers aren't shown in realtime.

I've not noticed this effect. My new images that are picking up sales seem to be doing OK in the BM, or are at least treading water. The lack of regular updates to the portfolio view can be unsettling, when you know a file has x number of sales, but the figures showing don't reflect that. To be honest though, given that the OP is essentially a question about how the BM works, I'd be surprised if you got any detailed explanations from official sources.
