Yep, its me again! And once again, im bringing a new widget with me!

Some people may be familiar with the Downsample Calculator or more commanly referred to as "Titaniumdoughnuts Nifty Megapixel Size Machine". I have been working with Perry over the past few weeks after I had contacted him with the offer to create a widget version of his great tool.

I now bring you the end result, DownsampleCalculator, which is the third widget in the iStockWatcher Suite. To put it simply, the widget allows you to size images of any aspect ratio to istock minimum sizes.
The layout is quite simple, but ive added some cool little features to help you get to the calculations quicker.

* Drag&Drop Support: Instead of looking for the image height/width on the actual image, just drag that sucker straight onto the widget (.jpg files only). The width and height boxes will light up if it is valid and has found the width/height. There may be a slight delay depending on the filesize of the image you are dragging.
* Tabbed Navigation: You can tab between the fields. Unfortunately it will only go forward (no shift+tab support), but theres only a maximum of four fields to tab through, so it aint so bad. The drop down field to select the final downsample size can also be navigated via the keyboard, as you can use your up and down keys to move between the options when it is selected (the text box is lit up).
* Live Calculations: You may notice that theres no calculate button on this baby. Thats because you dont need one. The results panel will update whenever it can make a successful calculation. Also please note that all fields must be filled in before a calculation can be made.

It also features the standard features of the iStockWatcher suite: Version Checker, Live Custom Colour Backgrounds and a Widget Focus Hotkey.

Please note that the actual downsample code has been written by Titaniumdoughnut. I have taken his code, with his permission, and applied it to widget form. He will help out with any questions that you may have about the downsample code. Also, this widget requires the latest version of Yahoo! Widget Engine to be installed on your system. Get it here.

When I drag an .jpg image onto the Calculator, I get "File not valid. Please choose a jpeg" -- but it *is* a jpeg. Windows 2000, and I use Adobe Photoshop to edit the files, if that makes a difference.

My files all are lower case .jpg - do they have to be .jpeg?

no, they should be accepting .jpg files... it wont accept .jpeg files, i will add that to the next version.

Could you send me a copy of file that wont work? If you want to downsize it before you do, thats fine, but make sure the file you send me doesnt work. My email is adamcj(at)gmail.com.

Adam -

Thanks for that - I've sent some clarification of what I did, which was to drag and drop from Mozilla 1.7.12.

Are there particular applications that you should drag and drop from?
