With the release of iStockWatcher Lite, I announced that i would branch out my development into a suite of widgets, with the aim to develop widgets that can help with different aspects of the istock life. The third widget in the suite is the DownsampleCalculator widget. Originally developed in a web based format by Perry Kroll (titaniumdoughnut), the widget version operates in the same way. By providing an images height and width, and what size you want it to be on iStock, the widget provides the figures as to how much you can downsample the image to still meet the istock tier you desire. The file and more information is available from the link at the end of this thread

With the statistics/account information side of things covered, I am open to suggetions/requests as to what you would like developed. I have a couple ideas for possible widgets, but I'm open to suggestions to see what you guys want. I will ofcourse continue to develop/fix the original iStockWatcher in the future.
If you have any suggestions, please post them in this thread, but keep any widget based bug/queries in their respective threads, linked to below.
The widgets I develop run through the Yahoo! Widget Engine (formally Konfabulator), and work on both Windows and Mac based systems.

iStockWatcher Widget Suite
iStockWatcher 2.0.6 (released 01/02/06)
Windows | Mac

iStockWatcher Lite 1.0.1 (released 27/01/06)
Windows | Mac

DownsampleCalculator 1.0.0 (released 31/01/06)

Apologies everyone, my host went down temporarily. It should start working any time soon, until then though, you will get a message saying 'too many connections' on the istockwatcher lite and downsample calculator files.

Hi, Adam,

New user, just downloaded the Widget, what a neat gadget!

I have two comments and one "complaint":

1 - My uploads are showing steadily at 33, while the site is certain it's 32

2 - (I think this is a firewall issue) Firefox fires up but does not manage to load the site information when asked for from the Widget interface. (If Firefox is already open, it works OK, so I think Outlook is blocking the Widget from launching the browser.)

My "complaint" is: since I downloaded the Widget, there's been no activity at all on my account!

Thank you for this facility, I'm sure it will be useful.

Update: Widget shows 34, site shows 33... (I have four photos still in the queue.)

I finally worked it out... I have an image on Executive Review which is counting itself as an upload, but does not appear in my portfolio.

Took me a while to work it out!

I guess you'll need to access the number from the portfolio page, however that is done...

Adam,

I think there's just one other piece of useful information that I'd like the widget to keep me up-to-date with, and that's when a photo is selected by someone for a public lightbox. Is this feasible?

Yahoo! Widget Engine has been updated to 3.1

This is not a critical update for the iStockWatcher Suite. So you can still use the widgets without updating. There is only one problem i have found after updating, which is that all the windows seem to be slightly opaque. I will investigate and get a release out asap. If anyone finds any bugs, please let me know.

Download can be found here
Changelog can be found here

I plan to rework the widget, and basically do a complete overhaul, trying to minimize the use of resouces. It wont be a quick job though, as I am currently in my last year of uni. Dont expect the overhaul till the end of the year, but I will continue to update any problems in the current widgets.
