Sticky thread up...

You can omit the th or rd or st in the date format if you so desire. No problems there.

Studio shots need location and date also. Believe it or not some products do change from region to region.

Thank you for the info.  Do you know when inspectors will start accepting/rejecting images?  I didn't add the date in my captions so I need to go back and re-do the 20 or so shots I uploaded last night. :

The caption is where you need to supply the 4 W's. Who is in the photo (if a person is present), What is happening in the photo, When was the image taken and Where was the image taken?

I've put in a change request for the copy to be changed to the followiang:

The caption is where you need to supply the 4 W's. Who is in the photo (if a person is present), What is happening in the photo, When was the image taken and Where was the image taken? Please provide captions in the following format.

City, Country - Month, Date Year: Caption text

For example:

Chicago, USA - December, 24th 2010: Shoppers along the "Magnificent Mile" on Michigan Avenue rush to buy last minute presents on Christmas eve.

You'll note that this is the format that the captions are in the Editorial Use Only article.

Please edit your captions to the above format if you don't have them in that format already. I'll be creating a sticky thread in a few moments that inspectors will reference when rejecting images for incorrect captions.

Thanks for the clarity. Of course, I don't use the upload page, so would never see that, so it would be good to include in the DM captioning area.

What should we do with files that are already uploaded? Cancel and re-upload?

Cancel and you'll be starting from scratch.

I'm hoping a 'reject with resubmit' will allow us to re-upload and all the data (keywords, etc) will still be there, as it always has been before.

(Hoping anyway ... that depends on an editable caption field upon re-submit)

.

Re-submitting a previously uploaded image gives you the option of ticking the checkbox for editorial and entering the caption information fresh - chances are the field will be editable, but might not retain the previous data. I'm thinking it would be easier to re-import all the originals into DM, copy across all the data, cancel the original upload then re-upload from DM.

Either way its more tedious than being able to edit the captions directly pre-inspection.

Bit of pain - but these are the teething problems. Not clear yet to me why the date is necessary, as it anyway, will be added separate. So it actually is really searchable. But fine, going with the flow.

Should we include people names in captions if available?

Yeah I know it's a pain. Big apology to all it was overlooked. Hey if it's worth anything once we get the go ahead to process files we'll get them rejected fast !

Also I mailed Franky and see if he can add something to the DM box.

Why we can't edit our captions once we upload?

Why do we have to enter the date twice?. Doesn't it increase the probability of making mistakes?
