We have now launched a new collection which is open to our non-exclusive contributors. Welcome, Photo+! Just like with our Exclusive contributors, our NON-EXCLUSIVES can now opt a certain percentage of their files into this new collection. Once the file has been added, it will be locked into the Photo+ category for 6 months. In the meantime if you apply to become an exclusive contributor, those files will move into the Exclusive+ collection.

To nominate your files, go to My Account --> Contributor Tools --> Uploads. Once there, click on the arrow beside My Upload, then click on Exclusive+. Just click the checkbox beside the file you would like in the collection.

Just as you are able to distinguish what the Exclusive+ collection (crown +) is, Photo+ will be distinguished with a camera + symbol. The pricing for Photo+ is the same as our Exclusive collection and is as follows:

XS - 2
S - 5
M - 10
L - 15
XL - 20
XXL - 25
XXXL - 30

Royalties for will remain the same.

When your files get added to the collection, it will take about 24 hours for them to show up in a search as a Photo+ file. This is the same as when you add files to E+, V/A.

Just to reiterate, Photo+ is for NON-EXCLUSIVE contributors. It functions the same way as our Exclusive+ program works, in that you have a certain percentage that you can upload monthly. The files uploaded to Photo+ are NOT exclusive.

So find those files you love and start uploading now!

what is the definition of this collection? Are these files more expensive? are they exclusive files from non-exclusives?

How does it work?

Cheers

If I'm reading the prices on the front page correctly, Photo+ prices are the same as Exclusive (regular) prices - is that correct?

And what about going the other way - exclusive to non-exclusive? (a) do you keep your pool of slots from E+ but they just become Photo+; (b) do any E+ automatically become P+?

let me guess, the prices are higher, but we get an even smaller percent.

Details? Where are the details? This isn't a proper way to announce something.

Don't suggest it! If it works like E+ the contributor gets the same percentage, not the V/A slimline one

At least we hear about it on istock first...smile

I like the idea that contributors can choose their best work for a + collection. Very often in a series you have a few stellar files, but the others make good add ons, so you upload them as well. A + collection will help the search to find the best files. Anything that gives the artist more control over his portfolio is greatly appreciated.

Well done istock!  Please keep the good news coming...

I'm sure the buyers will be thrilled to have even more price points and no way to filter them.

Really, of all the stuff that needs to be done or worked on around here, I can't remember anyone ever mentioning this.

Oh yes...about that price filter...I sincerly hope there is good news coming for the buyers as well...

But in principle this is a good tool to bring the best files to the surface. The plus collection is also still in the traditional micro price range.

It makes no sense. In theory, you can charge more for E+/V/A, because they (theoretically) can only be found on iStock, so if you want it, there's a premium. Independents put their content on sites where you can get 750 images a month for $299 or whatever. And just as cheap on other PAYG sites. If I was a buyer, you just sent me elsewhere for those sales.

I'm not sure, but isn't this putting things (largely) back to where they were 18 months ago, when exclusive and non-exclusive files cost the same and the difference came in the commission rate?

If this collection is just at the same price as the ordinary exclusive collection it doesn't really create a new price point, so it does make some sense. Of course, increasing the prices again also boosts iStock's profits (as long as the buyers pay at that rate, and I don't think there was really any sign that the separation of price points in January 10 created a big enough difference to drive sales to the cheaper non-exclusives files)

Yes, the prices are the same as the Exclusive collection. They range from 2 - 30 credits. As for your second question Jo Ann, I will need to go and find out more information. As soon as I find something out, I'll post it.

You've seen the format on other announcements of this sort. A list of rules (what percentage of portfolio, 6 month lock), prices, how the files will be noted in searches - that sort of thing.

Regarding the search results, as there's no crown to append the plus to, will there be a floating plus?

A biggie is how will you market this to buyers? What will you be telling them about why this price increase is goodness?

And as far as what's in it for iStock, that's clear - exclusive collection prices with non-exclusive royalties. Unless buyers won't pay, iStock stands to make out like bandits.
