![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Sat Jul 9, 2011 3:16AM | Hi, this just got rejected for 'the modelling in your rendering is over-simplified, poorly constructed or is showing unnecessary visible polygons': http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/8/gearsbluesteelwatermark.jpg Looking at the image again, I could get rid of the hard bevels on the teeth, & the gear wheel at middle-right could use more polys on the upper edge of the gaps. Would this be enough to resubmit, or is it a bit too simple or unlikely to sell to be worth changing? Thanks |

I say this because they stand out as overly crisp compared to the textures used. Also, like you said, a few more polygons on the curves would help too. |

![]() ![]() Posted Mon Jul 11, 2011 11:15AM | Hi, It's a really good conceptual background image. I Do like it And to be honest I understand you 100%. I had the same problem with rejections here recently. It's sad when we've spent one day on some 3d Concepts and later we've just got rejections for: “the modelling in your rendering is over-simplified”. If I can add my small two words, I would suggest to you: I'm sorry I don't know which software you used for that concept. For all my works I'm using Maya 2008 Complete and Mental Ray(Unfortunately, I can't afford to buy an upgrade to Maya 2012 ) 1) For all metal objects I'm not using Bevel at all. I'm using mia_roundconcers node, which is much better (it gives bevel without new geometry). 2) Talking about textures, I would use different texture sizes for the different gears(I men by that, do not use the same texture sizes for the small and big one) Don't give up.
