Over the years, we have always aimed to adjust both the iStockalypse & Minilypse Programs to where it is we think they need to go... and how they can assist both our global community of artists & iStockphoto’s International Development needs.

As its title suggests, the main focus of this thread is the iStockalypse Milan, but we also want to touch on other highly interesting events & want to make sure as many contributors as possible fully realize the importance of iStockphoto’s Minilypse Program.

In the upcoming months, do expect a lot more as to where we want to take the Minilypse Program, and just how much it could help you as an exclusive artist.

With that said, take it away, member echodelta... and let there be Milan.

*****MILAN ISTOCKALYPSE*****

Fashion Week may be wrapping up, but this season's hottest photo event will just be starting. We're styling in Milan, Italy from September 28 – October 2 for the second iStockalypse of 2011. This event coincides with the launch of our iStock Milan office and will be focussed intensively on creating content for the local market. We'll get authentic Italian content and embrace the Italian culture differently from the way we have in past events. We'll take attendees around and outside the city as well as take them from stills to motion. This event will integrate elements of video into our primarily photo-based event and bring attendees a new understanding of their equipment and of iStockvideo. Most of all, it'll be awesome.

The facts:

WHO:

ATTENDEES: For this event we're going forth with the initiative to 'go global while staying local'. This means to offer multiple events and extend our reach globally, but focus on getting truly authentic local content – meaning through the eyes of those in the market. For this event, we'll be limiting eligibility on the yellow bucket so only European contributors may enter. (Europe, for the sake of definition includes Russia, UK, Turkey and Iceland – if you have any geographical inquiries or concerns, please contact me (echodelta) to discuss).
ON-ASSIGNMENT ATTENDEES: We introduced this a few events ago, and love what it's brought. A special hand-selected group of attendee machines who in addition to being attendees are required to deliver specific content that has been requested by iStock.
STAFF: We'll be posting a staffing list shortly. The team will be on hand to develop and assist attendees in the experience in every way possible.
SOCIAL: There's absolutely no limit to who or how many folks join us in Italy as Socials. There's no price for a ticket either. All we ask is that you let me (echodelta) know you'll be coming via sitemail or email.

- The office draw winner, name coming

Note: If anyone is unable to come, we'll continue to draw from the bucket. I'll be in Calgary in the coming week and I'll try to get a backup list done - maybe even on video, although the Utah-lypse video is pretty tough competition!

WHEN:

- Some cool pre-event details to come – stay tuned
- iStockalypse September 28 – October 2

WHERE:

- Milan, Italy
- There are two hotels that we're working with:

We've got a group deal at:

Atahotel Executive
Viale Don Luigi Sturzo 45
20154 Milano -Italy
t: +39-0262942804
F: +39.0262942729
@: bookingmanager.executive@atahotels.it

Download the booking form here If you book 7 nights minimum, then the rate applies for 135 euro per night including breakfast.

Also, currently staff are at this hotel, but it seems pretty booked up and it's more fun to have everyone together so we might just have to move over to that ATA Executive. In the meantime, this is where staff are staying:

Hotel AC MIlano
Via E. Tazzoli, 2
20154 Milano
Tel: +39 02 20 4242 11
Fax: +39 02 20 4242 12
@: acmilano@ac-hotelsl.com

There is no group discount at this hotel and no need to indicate you're with the iStock group.

WHAT:

- Photo iStockalypse with some video education and opportunities
- We'll incorporate Editorial and Royalty Free
- We'll have some workshops, seminars, and a panel discussion
- Attendees will work in various locations including cool studios, on set locations and outdoors

HOW:

- We'll do a lottery style draw from our trusty yellow bucket. TO ENTER YOUR NAME IN THE YELLOW BUCKET DRAW, PLEASE SEND A SITEMAIL TO ECHODELTA. NAMES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL MIDNIGHT JULY 22 (MDT). We'll draw names from the bucket and contributors whose names are drawn will have the opportunity to purchase an attendee ticket for the event.
- Attendee tickets will be $500 USD and we'll make them available to draw winners to purchase from the iStock store.

*****NEW YORK VIDEOLYPSE*****

iStockvideo is celebrating an amazing milestone in New York City this October; Video's 5th birthday. Videographers will have the chance to take their bite of The Big Apple in style at this official videolypse. If you're interested in learning and taking your video to NYC, please visit the official thread to read more.

*****SAO PAULO & RIO DE JANEIRO MINILYPSES*****

LINK TO THE OFFICIAL THREAD

We love Brazil. iStock visited Sao Paulo with the WPO in January and we knew then that we'd need to go back. Since we had Italy in the books already, we concluded it was time to get a jump start on the local market with some minilypse events.

These events are minis, yes – but they're super minis. Several incredible Admins and Inspectors will be on hand to help host these strongly-supported-by-iStock events. We're pushing hard into this market and want to open up a bit of room to create the serious need for a full iStockalypse

The events will be focussed on the local Brazilian contributors, however there will be a couple of spaces reserved for interested iStockers from outside of Brazil.

The facts:

WHO:

- Brazilian contributors plus 2 open spaces for seriously interested photographers to attend That means one spot in Rio de Janeiro and one spot in Sao Paulo up for grabs.
- These fabulous minilypse events will be hosted, supported and co-coordinated by our very own minilypse guru RichVintage (congrats and thanks to AJ for taking on this awesome challenge)

WHEN:

- Rio de Janeiro dates: Friday Sept 23, Saturday Sept 24, Sunday Sept 25
- Sao Paulo dates: Friday Sept 30, Saturday Oct 1, Sunday Oct 2

WHERE:

- Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Sao Paulo, Brazil
- More information on accommodation etc to come

WHAT:

- 3 days of RF-focussed shooting and stock discussion time.
- Rio de Janeiro
- Focus will be "Outdoor Lifestyle" and will include beach, football, and shopping
- The themes we want to create include vitality, fun, pride, celebration, aspiration
- Sao Paulo
- Focus will be "Indoor Lifestyle" and will include a restaurant/ bar, school (private), and gym/ fitness
- The themes we want to create include fitness & appearance, relationships, culinary/ social culture, learning

While these are the dates and concepts of the formal event, we encourage attendees to spend some time around the event, using the opportunity to shoot editorial content also. Some themes for the personal editorial content might include things that are unique about the city: traffic, security, cityscapes (from all heights and angles), cultural fairs, people and landmarks. We really want to capture all that is Brazil and lay the groundwork for future activity in the country, so we're asking attendees to make plans to get out there with a partner (security and company sake) to shoot some truly authentic content.

HOW:

- We'll do a lottery style draw from our trusty yellow bucket. TO ENTER YOUR NAME IN THE YELLOW BUCKET DRAW, PLEASE SEND A SITEMAIL TO ECHODELTA. NAMES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL MIDNIGHT JULY 22 (MDT). We'll draw names from the bucket and contributors whose names are drawn will have the opportunity to attend the event.
- There will not be a cost to attendees for this event.
- There will be socializing opportunities at these Brazilian events, however there won't be any specific Social ticket or roster made for social attendees

*****USA MINILYPSE…*****

With all these -lypse events and with the global-yet-local focus limiting some folks, I can't help but wonder if there's enough interest for a super–mini for North American contributors? Something like a strongly-supported-by-iStock for North Americans only in mid Septemberish? If there's enough interest and willing participants then we'll look at helping get another mini rolling and make it a nice 5th event – it'd make a nice 5th party 'candle' for that birthday cake too.

Awesome, we've got a lot of interest so The official thread for this mini event is here

***THIS POST WILL BE UPDATED REGULARLY WITH INFORMATION AS IT'S MADE AVAILABLE***

Update:
- added link to minilypse forum for Utah Minilypse discussion
- added link to minilypse forum for Brazil Minilypse discussion
- added Yellow Bucket Draw winners, On Assignment Photographers and Staff for Milan
- added Hotel recommendations
- updated new winner names

I just have one (probably stupid) question...
This yellow bucket thing...
If I see lightboxes from previous iStockalypses - so the only chance to make this images is if somebody pull your name out of that bucket? And all the 'loosers' are just hanging around and watching?
Or what?

Only photographers whose names have been drawn will have the chance to shoot scenes prepared by iStock. At events, there are often setups prepared by iStockers for eachother and iStockers may find models and go into the streets with their own model. So many of the images in the lightbox are not just of imagery that iStock has prepared.

The location shoots have restricted access so only attendees can shoot the setups. There is considerable value in attending an iStockalypse event however, even if you aren't shooting the setups. Much can be learned outside of scheduled times by networking, meeting and socializing (hence we call them social tickets) with all of the photographers - and ultimately - all of the talent that is in one place.

This seems like a great way to advertise in countries where the planet is still little known istock.

Thank you for Elissa for choose Milan like location of this lypse (perhaps along with Rome, the Italian major economic centers) where it was needed to focus to develop the market of istockphoto.

Italians will be many, we hope there is good support for all. But I'm sure that Elissa and the team assigned to istock Lypse will put everything in the best way.

Even if I will not extract to the yellow bucket i will participate as a social statement, it will be an opportunity to knowing all (face to face).

Milan is waiting for us all.
