Return AIR-INDIA tickets are still available cheap (around $145) to- and fro- New Delhi. If some of you do decide to join, may be we can have a sort of a meetup or even a MiniLypse in this rather remote Himalayan wonderland.
My initial plan was to drive-up to LADAKH from New Delhi via Himachal Pradesh and return-drive via Kashmir, but gave up the plan as perhaps a bit too ambitious, and will now be focusing solely on the amazing LADAKH for a period of full two weeks.
Initial EOI interest invited from all ... though for me the outing is definitely ON.

Enjoy - I went this May to Leh, and then up to Lake Pangong Tso. Brilliant trip. Just too short; and due the altitude a bit of a 'headache' in the literal sense. But fantastic photos... need to upload them - before you do your trip next year  .

/Sure Gary ! That would be lovely. I am already booked by AIR INDIA from Monday, 2nd July, 2011 (ONWARDS) till Monday, 16h July, 2011 (RETURN). I will be accompanied by two of my assistants (both the ANILS, who accompanied us on INDIALYPSE2010 too).
Yesterday Alan (Gannet77) also expressed his interest in joining. I replied to him as follows :
The LADAKH trip is definitely ON for me and my two assistants. My scheduled dates are : DEPARTURE New Delhi to Leh (Ladakh), Monday, 2nd July, 2012, and RETURN New Delhi from Leh (Ladakh). Monday, 16th July, 2012.
As there wasn't any response to my posting in the forum, this trips remains just a private one ... but still ,,, more the merrier ! I will surely keep you informed. Tickets can be easily booked ONLINE at a premier Indian travel portal YATRA.COM.
If there are as many as five of us (or even more), all local travel & accommodation costs etc can be substantially lower. I have a few students from Ladakh this year, and these girls and their families can be our pre-released models ... of course there can indeed be tons of EDITORIAL & VIDEO shooting too.

Certain ? Yup. Very much so. I had my THREE air-tickets booked in late August, 2011. And, according to my students (from Ladakh) July is pretty OK for a photo-shoot. Yes, Leh will be the base, but a proper itinerary will be available only around end-January, 2012 ... as I'm already in consulation with some people who have been to Ladakh in solo & group tours.
I must mention here that as yet, this proposed LADAKH trip remains a private & personal one. But if we get a nod from at least 10-12 members, I may sure apply for a MiniLypse status. |
