I would love to be in a position to join but I am not. So far I am just about half of where I should be.

Good idea! I'll play! Already it motivated me to actually make a spread sheet. I don't see moving up a level this year but it is a good goal. I definitely could slip down a level if I am not on top of things.

Me too - so far I'm a long way behind being able to equal last year.

Hopefully this latest blank RC problem will be fixed before the start of Feb - won't be much good trying to report RC progress if we can't even see them ourselves.

Anyway, I've created a shared Google document to try out graphs.  It's visible to all, but if anyone wants to be able to edit it, please let me know and I'll add you as an editor.

Here's example graphs for January and the whole year, with some made-up stats:

Very cool chart, George. I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to enter in. Is it the monthly percentage of one twelfth of where I want to be at the end of the year? So if I want to hit 30% and anticipate the RCs needed to reach 12,000 (just example) and I hit 500 RC in January, I'm at 50% for the month.

Thanks Jennifer - I was thinking to just have it as a percentage of the 2011 RC total.  So if someone hits 100 on the chart, they would have equalled their RC figure from last year.

So each month's entry on the graph would be that month's %ge of the 2011 RC total.

Having said that, some people are preferring to aim for a particular RC total of their own, which is fine - in that case 100 on the chart would be when they've hit their target.

Nice work smile. Entering each months percentage of the years target sounds good. Although the numbers might not tell all that much when the downloads are not evenly distributed throughout the year. I really don't expect to get anywhere near 1/12 of my targetted 2012 RC's in January at all. Not based on the distribution of my downloads in 2011 anyway. Although it would keep me motivated to try and get to 1/12 of my target in January wink.

Cool chart!

So how would we go about adding our numbers?    Do we send you the numbers or do you want to make us editors?

Also, ahve we decided on the cut-off day for the reporting - since RCs are lagging by a few days...

Re cutoff day? FWIW I follow my numbers pretty closely and it seems (even despite the periodic outages) that RC's are almost always fully updated by "Day 3". Meaning - for end of January numbers this year - I'd be pretty confident in suggesting Friday Feb 3rd as when we should know all of what happened through Tuesday Jan 31. Make sense?

^ So should we post our percentages on 3/2 then? Do we post here or do you want to make us all administrators on the spreadsheet? Thanks for doing a spreadsheet and doing the race.  It is keeping me motivated to track my stats.

Can't get into the spreadsheet yet afaik. But I'm at 81.9% of my monthly target of 1100. Seriously doubt I'll get there this month, but 85-90% will be better than I expected for January.

ETA - Hmmm. Re-thinking, maybe I didn't give a full story. I realize people are attacking this in different ways - I'm tracking it two ways. Hope nobody minds an open kimono this one time. I assume (please nobody jump or troll or anything on this statement!!! ) I'll need 12,500 before the end of the year to increase commission from 25% to 30%. Yes of course it could all change!! But that's the only info I have to go on for now. Assuming nothing changes, then I am currently at 7.2% of my 2012 overall target of 12,500.

Ted, the only trolling I'll do is to say PLEASE don't open the kimono ... I haven't recovered from Kieran's belly shot yet.

eta:  I meant Kieran's model, of course

Kieran has more guts than I do! Uh, yeah, I mean his model does. And no, I meant guts as in "courage" - nothing else!! Don't worry Tom - I won't be spilling my guts from a real kimono any time soon. Quit giggling Wendy!

I agree - lets go for reporting on the third of each month.

Either post your %ge of your annual target here and I'll add it to the stats, or just add it directly in to the spreadsheet.  I've made it editable by everyone (no login needed), so please have a go at making a change to the test stats...

> > Here's a link to the Google Docs spreadsheet and chart < <

I've edited the first post to add the link and an example calculation for January.

No worries about making an editing mistake or anything... there's a full revision history for the document smile

There's two tabs at the bottom - one for the data, and one for the chart which should update automagically when data is added.

If anyone feels like having a go at making some changes to the spreadsheet to check it works OK that's be great.

There's no kimono reveal tab so far biggrin

Thanks for organizing the challenge, George. It always helps keep me motivated. I'm anticipating that Ted will reveal himself sometime during this race, so we all best be prepared. Although, he's a cross fit kind of guy, so it may not be too bad.
