@D! thanks...I haven't got a 5 before. Maybe the point system is a little limited? Why isn't it a 10pt.scale anyway?

I don't think that the user rating system (stars) was ever meant to mimic with the judging system (points). Every individual has a different 'judging' criteria and that criteria also varies widely from battle to battle. I think that the stars would probably be better suited as "likes" or "thumbs up", but in the end I voted because the difference between R1:1 and R5:1 is tremendous! Congrats. (Hat off)

5* are you still out there? You are a cool opponent but you don't talk so much...You threw a homerun with that Spartan blow! Congrats on the number 1 spot!

ps: D I think it should be a tie myself!

Nice return Jo, Lighing's a liitle flat but that will come with exprience :)

really great return! If I may offer a suggestion that can help sometimes: add a curves/levels layer on top to fix this flatness. Just something to try. You can be aggressive, just make it be its own layer and switch it on/off to see how it looks. It's one of the easiest adjustments. You can also change blending mode of the adjustment layer to multiply/soft light/ overlay (those three are my fav depending on what mood I'm trying to set). Of course, when it's its own layer, you can always adjust the opacity.

p.s. sometimes I wonder why I offer comments Jo, you would totally kick my a** based on how you've stepped up your game. I just know tiny little tricks (which I have learned here) that can sometimes help.

Thanks for remembering my affiliation with the CAA (critique's appreciation association). Those fine tunings of light and shadow are truly the mark of experience. I sometimes study 5*'s files for an hour! But it does get frustrating when you can't get the result you see in your head. The adjustment layers bug me because I can't figure out how to make them ONLY affect the layer i'm on..instead the whole thing gets changed. But Pink I will work with the simple layer on it's own...I haven't tried the blending options w/opacity. Sounds promising.

Thanks for sharing and PLEASE KNOW THEY ARE WELCOME AND APPRECIATED!

pix - do you need a kleenex? we need your brain to be nice and clear round here. Ha!

You option/alt click on the adjustment layer you wanna add, then a dialogue box pops up, you turn on the "use previous layer to create clipping mask" option, or if you already added the adjustment layer, then you option click between the adjustment layer and the layer below, so it will add a clipping mask, and only the layer below will be affected If you see a small arrow and the adjustment layer indented then you did it right...
