We've partnered with Adobe to create the iStock Plug-in for their Creative Suite. Adobe CS users can use the plug-in to browse and download iStock directly from Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

How do I get the iStock Adobe Plug-in?
To use the iStockphoto Adobe Plug-in, simply:
1. Ensure you have Adobe Creative Suite 5 or higher for PC or Mac
2. Click “Install iStock Plug-in” above
3. Open the downloaded file using the most up-to-date version of Adobe Extension Manager
Enable the plug-in by selecting Window>Extensions>iStockphoto

Read more and download the plug-in here.

What it means for Contributors
The plug-in does not include free images. Users must have an existing iStock account and credit balance, which the plug-in draws on to download. So from a Contributor point of view, there are no unusual royalty implications – just more traffic.

So, if I only have Photoshop CS5 and not the entire CS5 suite (I only have Production Premium CS3), I can't get it?

eta: Never mind - I double clicked on the downloaded file, and up popped a CS5.5 extension manager. Looks pretty cool. Like the drag and drop of the comp. Thanks!

etaa: What happens when you buy something in PS? Does it open right there in Photoshop?

Neat...it can't hurt! How exactly does the "drag and drop" work? Is it a way of downloading a sample watermarked image or something different? I was afraid to try it as I might inadvertantly download (and pay for) a file.

I haven't downloaded it yet ... but can you search for the FIOTW in the plug-in? Maybe it will let you download it to test it out.

Great idea! How about a plugin for Adobe Premiere and After Effects that browses and downloads videos?

GREAT!

Sounds like a good reason to cancel the Microsoft deal.

Just when i started having doubts that Istock might be running low on solid ideas.... Great move!!

Would be even better if there was some feature around CS for those who are not yet buyers to sgn up and become buyers!?

After reading the link it says 'While you don’t need an iStock account to install the plug-in and search for files' So does the plugin come with a signup button/link?

Forget the above. I see there is a 'join' link, nice layout.
