Horrible as usual. Actually, even more horrible than usual. Though I suppose even more horrible than usual is... well... quite usual these last couple years.


Second and third weeks were an utter disaster, picked up a bit in the last week at least.

$$$ Strong but downloads down over 18% from April. A bit unnerving.

Mine looked exactly like that in terms of drop off in downloads except I was saved in $ terms by a massive extended licence and some decent returns from a couple of E+ files

1st month with content in the exclusive + collection.Doing quite well.Downloads down over April but money up due to two EL's and exclusive + sales.

It's a tricky balance, downloads vs. income.

My own figures for the first five months of this year, compared with last year:

2012 Jan-May: DL -25%, $$/DL +25%

In other words, the drop in downloads is balanced almost exactly by the increased return per image sold. So that 2012 income is on a par with 2011 income.

Interesting that some diamond-level contributors are reporting good results (some not). Overall, there seems to be a more positive spirit over earlier months, when most reports were negative.

Pretty good year so far, but may was 20% worse than last year, in dollars.

Better than April, but still 2nd worst month this year for downloads. $$ were quite perky though.

without counting EL, May is so far the "best" month in this year but still a bad month since the sudden big drop around Dec 2011. I used to have several sales per day for years but now sales became several days a DL.

Things are not looking good for me. May is generally one of my peak months and yet, for downloads,  it is the lowest yet this year. I am experiencing a steady decrease in downloads. I decided to look back over my history here using May sales as a benchmark.


May 2007 - 24 dl - 81 total images


May 2008 - 168 dl - 476 total images


May 2009 - 173 dl - 749 total images


May 2010 - 131 dl - 1016 total images


May 2011 - 115 dl - 1190 total images


May 2012 - 69 dl - 1325 total images


As you can see, even with the increase in pay per download, this decrease in sales is not going to be a sustainable business model.

Since I was just looking at my history here I went back and checked. This May's downloads was the lowest number since September 2007, my first year, when I only had around 100 images in my portfolio. Scary!

I've been waiting for the EL fairy since January.


My first four months were great compared to last year and then May went in the tank. I'm wondering if the search criteria keep changing, and even if they cycle the criteria so searches over several months come up different. A lot of May was old images.

Slow month, lowest number of DL's for the year. Only one EL's. A lot xsmall and small sales that are killing me with redeemed credits. I'm uploading everyday and see very little in return.
