Thanks Simon for the encourgement. Your stiched image is excellent! Do you also have 14mm f2.0 lens?  I have 35mm f1.4 but I am also thinking about geting 14mm f2.0 and perhaps 60mm f2.4 or 56mm f1.4 (when it comes out) as well.

Hi David, I've got the 18mm, the 35mm, and a Voigtlander 15mm. It must be said these three suit my style of shooting pretty well, though I do hanker for something a bit longer. We'll see what next year brings!

Hi Simon, I think I should get 18mm too.  Do you think 18-55mm will be also a good choice?  I am not so sure whether the zoom lens is sharp enough.  If it is, it could be handy~~~

I used the 18-55 a bit and didn't care for it.  The 60mm is a great lens, but SO slow. Great macro, of course but I've found it frustrating as a portrait lens and I'll be selling it as soon as I can get my hands on the 56mm.

Thanks blackwaterimages for the tip.  I did not know 60mm is so slow for the portrait.  I will wait for the 56mm then.  I haven't decided which one to get, 18mm or 18-55mm, yet.

The firmware update released yesterday works nicely. Faster AF, for sure.

I've used the XE-1. While the lack of optical viewfinder is pretty much a deal breaker for me, its quite a nice camera. I prefer the slightly larger size of the X-Pro 1, though. The XE performs nicely and you certainly couldn't go wrong buying one, particularly if you didn't already have another x series camera.

So, I finally went ultra-light and took the X100, X-Pro1 (w/35mm) and the iPad Mini for a week of shooting in Mexico. I can ABSOLUTELY say, I do not miss the 5DmkII and L glass that I used to lug around. Granted, that left me with no long zoom, but the subjects didn't require it so it worked out perfectly.  Its a wondeful, compact system.

Oh yes, much lighter gear! I've got a bunch of images up, but they're all over at Getty.

I just bought one with a kit lens (18-55). I wanted smaller camera. Impressed with the quality of images. High ISO with no noise. Sharp. Image stabilization working great. I am still learning the controls.

I rushed to upload one image (hand held, low light, ISO 800) to see if it will pass the test

I've got camera in the mail yesterday, shot my kid in the afternoon, uploaded later in the evening, got first rejection in the morning and it was accepted just now. Lots of things to be learned (about camera, exclusives, new upload limits...) from what I just said

yes. He was sitting some 4m (13 feet or so) away from the window that had shatters partially closed. There was a little more light coming both left and right through the open doors and distant windows waaay back. It was close to 5pm. ISO 800, f4, 1/26", fl=43mm (70mm in FF flavor). Hand held. I had to push brightness noticeably but it didn't degrade quality all that much. Impressive!
