Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 6:49AM | Started off slow (no surprise) but never really picked back up. Over all the dissapointment continues. |
Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 6:57AM | Worst month of the year for both dollars and dls. My dls chart looks like a playground slide. This month, about 40% less dls then Feb of the year (2012 high point), which means my dls are likely at 2006-7 levels. Hugely disappointing, since I am very happy with the look, quality and variety of my recent uploads. |
Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 7:05AM | The plunge continues making this the worst month for downloads in years. Revenue plunging as well. The stats on Alexa.com and Compete.com show the whole Microstock industry is in a free-fall. I honestly don't see a future in Microstock. |

Thanks to some ELs, Agency, Vetta and lots of E+ sales, BME in terms of revenues. I actually earned three times what I did in 2011 as an independant on 9 agencies. Go exclusivity! Downloads were consistant with June, the lowest month of 2012 for me.
Good to hear it Nicolas. Congrats! |
Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 7:08AM | Pretty good month considering july is usually the wmy |
Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 7:09AM | Terrible month! Worst month in DLs since 7/09 when I had less than a 1/3 of the files I have now and worst month in RL since 2010. My DLs just plummeted this month. |
Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 7:11AM | July 2012 was the fourth consecutive month of a sharp sales plunge, both in the number of downloads and volume of royalties. In my case, this trend is obvious since April (ref. attached stat. graphic) and still chillingly and stubbornly progressing downwards. In the mean time, my portfolio content is building up continuously, and of course, the most frequently selling files are still available within it, as before, so except the recent multiple price rises of E+ files, I can't grasp any other possible reason for this negative trend.
According to my last year experience, the period of summer holidays didn't influence sales figures significantly, and surely not in the similar frustrating manner as at the present, so I'd exclude this as a possible culprit.
I've taken some steps to tackle this problem, retrieving all available, unlocked files from Exclusive + to Exclusive category, including and foremost the bestsellers. Since than, a slow, but steady increase of daily downloads was noticeable during the second half of July. Surprisingly, some of my files still locked in E+ category occasionally does sales as well. Still, the July royalties figures has been reduced to the half value of those earned in March!.
I am not quite sure which strategy to choose in the future, in order to ensure a steady growth of sales and to avoid a sudden appearance of such disappointing negative trends out of a blue, as those noticeable in the previous four months, and as the most severe recorded in July, but as it seems, the frequent and significant price rises on Istock takes it's toll, and I am sure, my story is not an endemic, isolated case.

Yes, and mine is absolutely the same, like yours. |

Same here, steady decrease since March. Both downloads and royalties.

Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 7:41AM | Slightly up (basically even) over June, up 81% over 2011. |
      Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 7:46AM | ouch ! Is all I can say ! |
Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 7:47AM | My sales have dropped off a cliff. I began contributing in late 2007, and that is where I had to look to find a month anywhere near as poor as this month. That being said, there re two things that may set me apart from the majority of contributers. 1. I am an illustration contributor, and 2. I have not "feed the beast" since July 2011. But, until this month, my sales were pretty steady. |
Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 7:56AM | My 2012 chart looks like this. Most downloads in February, highest royalties in May.

     Posted Wed Aug 1, 2012 8:09AM | Compared to June 2012: RL -28% DL -24%
Compared to July 2011: RL -30% DL -54%
Worst month this year. I haven´t had such a bad month since September 2006 (in Royalties)
I am putting all my hope into E+ on Getty Of course I need to upload more, but when I read that even people who upload a lot are seeing their earnings go down, I wonder if it isn´t better to focus my energy elsewhere and look at istock as a lower priority additional income. However if Stockbyte generates good sales, then I would certainly invest more into my production. So I look forward to the results from cross plattform sales.
