We're sending out the next instalment of our new monthly creative brief emails. One of the topics is an Editorial brief focused on the American election season. We're looking for images that document the Presidential election in the United States. In a broader sense, we're always interested in editorial imagery on political topics from around the world.

Read the Get out the Vote brief here.

Are you looking for images from *before* Election Day only? Or will you still want images captured *on* Election Day, even if they might not be submitted immediately (Say because the photographer is also an election judge and will fall into bed immediately after turning in her precinct's ballots, for instance.)

We're especially interested in what happens on the the day. It will be cool to see reaction shots - celebration, disappointment, global reactions. The immediate aftermath may have some cool stories as well.

FROM THE BRIEF
"The Candidates
We always need portraits of political figures. And since politics are always changing, the individuals in demand can change in a short time. Shoot your local candidate – you never know when they might end up on a larger stage.
If bigger names do come through your area, be sure to capitalize on the chance and get a good image of them"

What a misleading brief. I spent the afternoon shooting a campaign rally with Senator John McCain speaking for the Romney campaign. They are all rejected with the following statement.

The main subject of this image appears to be a celebrity or known person whose likeness may be protected or cannot be licensed for royalty-free use, including editorial.

Well the bigger names came through and I got some good shots. Why did you say to capitalize on the chance if you do not accept them. The examples in the brief were Barack Obama and Ron Paul. So they are OK but McCain isn't??? Or you just used those example to be misleading and let contributors waste a day traveling, shooting editing and uploadeing. Furthermore I got the rejection of format for City, Country. We have been over this again and again and city, state was said to be acceptable.

Was that a resubmit for the date issue ... or are your photos of McCain going back in?

Accepted with images of McCain. I can only say that make sure it is a public political event.
