I prefer the colour version but I also think it is not sharp. So I suspect it may not get through. 


I have to agree with the over-filtered rejection reason - several examples of over-filtering, of which the strange line down the length of the longest pencil is one. 


I think your judgement may be affected by falling in love with your processed image, which may or may not be original, but may also lack a clear message?

There is nothing in sharp enough focus, so the processing of it doesn't matter much. My advice in general though would be never do selective saturation like this.
