2013 Redeemed Credit targets

We appreciate we got the 2012 RC Targets together later than we intended, so this time we are going to provide them a h*ck of a lot earlier for 2013.

There will be no changes for the Redeemed Credit targets for 2013, the targets will remain at the same levels as 2012. To review where these targets stand, please see: http://www.istockphoto.com/help/sell-stock/rate-schedule

On November 28, we processed all the payments for members who hit their redeemed credit targets throughout the year. If you hit the next level, you will have received an email from us and a corresponding account adjustment. Congratulations to everyone who went up a level and again, please accept our apologies for the delay in getting this sorted out.

Technology Update

Image Zoom:
We know this particular feature has generated a lot of attention. We are also fully aware of the importance contributors place on this coming back as soon as possible. Our Technology team continues to work on the Image Zoom rebuild and have estimated the return of Zoom for no later than mid-December. We appreciate your continued patience while we work to ensure we have everything in order before re-launch.

Let us explain why Zoom had to go away for a short period after the Cash Sales launch. For the Cash Sales project we changed the File Closeup page to the extent that it needed to be rewritten from scratch. Zoom also needed a rewrite from scratch. When Cash Sales was ready and the Zoom rewrite was not, we decided to go live without Zoom. We understand that this is concerning, but can only reassure you that thousands of happy new customers are buying in Cash today, and thousands of customers who were not great fans of our credit system are back in the fold, so this has been good for our business overall. While we’d ideally not have to make these tradeoffs between important features, we sometimes do.

Preferences:
For some time now, your account preferences have been resetting every 7 days. We have recently launched a fix that will store your Agency and Partner Program opt-ins, and your copyright line preferences permanently. Starting on Friday Nov 30th, please go into your preferences and review your settings. Any changes made on Nov 30th or after this date should remain permanent.

Holiday Payout Schedule

A reminder to please check the Holiday payout schedule, and make your payment requests accordingly. The calendar makes it a bit confusing this year, so please make sure you get your payment tickets in early to avoid missing the cutoff deadlines.

Mon Dec 17th for all payment types, with payout Friday Dec 21.
Dec 24 cutoff for all payment types, with payout for PayPal on Dec 31, Moneybookers. Jan 2, Payoneer Jan 3.
PayPal cutoff Dec 31 for payout Jan 7(THIS PREVIOUSLY SAID JAN 31 - TYPO)
Moneybookers cutoff Jan 2 for payout Jan 9
Payoneer cutoff Jan 3 for Payout Jan 10
After that the payout schedule will return to the regular days with PayPal on Mondays, Moneybookers on Tuesdays, and Payoneer on Wednesdays. Cutoff for all payout requests is 9:00am Mountain Standard Time.

** Please remember - payment requests sent before the 9:00 am cutoff will be sent the following week, if you miss the 9:00 am cutoff, the payment will be sent in two weeks.

We’ve also provided a handy graphic for you to utilize to make sure you can see how everything is going to shake out in the Help Forums.

Fraud FAQ

We have seen a lot of discussion about the iStockReseller website. Our legal team continues to investigate this matter and we will keep you updated. That being said, please consider this a reminder to guard your iStockphoto credentials carefully. Do not use your iStock log in details at any other sites, and consider changing your passwords from time to time.

Contact FAQ

If you see any activity on your account that seems highly abnormal or suspicious, please send an urgently marked email to artists@istockphoto.com with the subject line: "Abnormal Account Activity," and our agents will investigate the matter further.

For questions about how your content appears on the partner sites, please use image.questions@gettyimages.com. The iStock support team does not have access to the partner site systems so this is your best course of action if you have questions.

If you have a Getty contract and submit directly to Getty Images, please submit your questions through the Getty Contributor Portal.

Holiday Campaign

On November 19th, iStockphoto launched the Make the Difference holiday campaign and you can help!

We are asking our customers to use up those remaining credits in their accounts and download a few more files so that we can reach our goal of 50k extra files sold before December 13th. In order to reach as many customers as possible, we will be spreading the message far and wide through email and newsletters, social media, online banners and our many partners in this campaign.

How can you help? We are hoping to have fancy Facebook covers for you to put on your timelines that say “I’m an iStock artist and my downloads count”. You can also spread the good word through your creative contacts.

In case you’re wondering, this will have no impact on your royalties. You might even see a nice boost in downloads.

Once our goal is reached, we will give $50,000 to the top most voted charities on all of our international Facebook pages. Even if you don’t download a file, you can still vote for your favourite charity on our Facebook page.

I hate editing OPs. I would prefer to add any additional clarity in a new spot. I also like to be in first and second place at the same time. Congrats on third.

By the way, think there's a typo for the Paypal cutoff - it says Jan 31 for payout Jan 7, presumably that should be Dec 31.

But I was hoping there would be some information about issue of foreign exchange purchases, and the amount of extra commission taken by iStock.  Support have been promising an official update on that since September.

Regarding credit card fraud as mentioned in the newsletter, I still don't understand why - as seen by the contributor - it's considered appropriate to treat credit card fraud as the same thing as a legitimate customer refund.  One represents criminal activity and the theft of our intellectual property, the other is a purchase refund.  Why did iStock decide to present them to contributors as the same thing?

I'm out, I have been around way too long and got almost 10K downloads and now I will be treated as someone who started yesterday and just turned exclusive. iStock will take additional 17% of my revenue jsut because I didnt make the 11K sales. Like it was my fault. Good luck to you all, I cant take it anymore ... it was a good ride but unfortunately now its over. Too bad I canceled the the other accounts when I became exclusive ... oh well, we all make mistakes.

I guess we are both in the dark about what it takes to create a new zoom feature for the new file close up page. If it was a simple as just being a script one would imagine it wouldn't require as much time as it has taken. So, I'm going to put my money down on it not just being a script.

I only learned about this istockreselller website from the newsletter – and I found some of my images there, still with istockphoto watermark but way cheaper than at istock. So I'm worried now.

Is there an ongoing discussion about this? If so, I must have missed it.

The newsletter says: "… consider this a reminder to guard your iStockphoto credentials carefully. …" What does this mean? Do my photos on the istockreseller site mean that my account has been cracked/compromised or whatever?

I know you answered this before but I cannot find it in the sticky, but the Dec 10th Paypal Request will be payout when? The PDF hints towards the 21st, yet it should be the 17th.

Any requests prior to the 17th will be paid as they always are. There is no alteration to the schedule UNTIL DEC 17th.

Here is a link back to the handy Holiday Schedule graphic:

/^ So the Dec 10th Paypal request will be paid out on the 21st as per the PDF

Not the 17th? See complete 2012 payout schedule

I was looking in the sticky but it was not there.

It will be paid on the following Monday. That would mean it would be paid on Dec 17th. The tail end of the December is a little dodgy on the calendar. We will have something better in place going forward, which is part and parcel of why we created this terrific graphic to accommodate some clarity on the schedule changes over the holidays.

Again, the 2012/2012 Holiday Payment Schedule.
