FYI: Per Janet, issuing a refund to istockphoto.com is fine, rather than sending a payment to gettyimages.com.

Hey Everyone, anyone who ran into the double payments will receive an email shortly with better instructions. Please accept our apologies for the error.

This paypal situation reminded me of my dream I had.  I loged onto my account and had one million dollars in there because everyone decide to buy my images on that day...

and then I woke up

fyi: the refund request email went to my Gmail spam folder. Possibly because it looks sketchy having to do with paypal. I'm just mentioning that in case it becomes an issue with people that are unaware of the situation.

I've just issued refunds for my double payment and my husband's. But in the notes I put his name on both doh! Hope that doesn't matter.

I issued a refund via paypal. I wasn't charged any fees for doing so.

Yes, mine were in the GMail spam folder too.

As you have said iStock will pay any fees that were incurred with a payment type refund, can you please tell us if those of us who have incurred costs in the currency exchange process during the refund will have those costs refunded. Thanks.

mine went to Gmail spam fold as well, and seems Paypal app can't handle refund..

I haven't checked mine yet, but I'm amused that contributors are refunding the overpayment so promptly, when if the error is in reverse, we wait for months.  I'm not saying it isn't the right thing to do - it's just very amusing.

I am surprised too..

I am not going to refund now, just let them wait for a while... like the way they treat us.

Mine were in spam too, thanks for mentioning it.

Hmm, just found the email in the spam folder.

Unfortunately I had already set the payment to be transferred to my bank account, so I won't be doing any kind of jiggling or incurring any possibility of any fees or currency conversion transactions on your behalf.

Feel free to set my balance to a minus amount.

I have asked if I will get mine back too, without reply, any answer from an admin in here?

I just noticed this too and thought it was a early Happy Holidays.  Now I have to admit I was very nervous doing the refund in case there are problems down the line I printed out my copy of the transaction for safe keeping.

Found two emails in my spam folder and, sorry, but I wouldn't touch either of them with a ten foot pole. The subject line is "PayPal Payment" and the sender is someone with an address at Getty Images, not istockphoto and not a name I've ever heard of. There is nothing in the first email stating that this is anything to do with istockphoto. There is no contact information other than the sender's address and nothing official looking about these emails at all. Nothing at all to prove I'm the intended recipient, not even my account name much less the amount sent or even coming from the istockphoto email address that's used for payments. I've seen phishing scams that look better than this. Very poor error in sending payments twice but really compounded by complete unprofessionalism in the follow up. My email system is absolutely right in treating this kind of message as spam. You can deduct the overpayment from my balance.

So is this email legit or not? I've just replied to it with some info (nothing overly private).

... because there's no chance after receiving a duplicate payment from a company owned by Getty Images, that you might get an email from someone who you've never heard of ? I sure don't know everyone that works there .

Seriously, acting like they do in retaliation isn't going to solve anything here.

If you got a duplicate, just go to Paypal and use the "refund" link on the payment. It isn't hard.

I've tried this, but PP is telling me there is not enough funds in my balance to refund it (there is twice the amount needed in there to refund it) and it wants to use my banbk account as a source of payment.

Simply holding istock to the same standards they hold us to on everything from release forms to technical quality isn't "retaliation" for anything. And it's really easy for istock to simply deduct any overpayments from our accounts here. I'd be quite happy for accounting to do that.
