Simply holding istock to the same standards they hold us to on everything from release forms to technical quality isn't "retaliation" for anything. And it's really easy for istock to simply deduct any overpayments from our accounts here. I'd be quite happy for accounting to do that.
You're not holding them to anything. In not just simply returning it, you're lowering your standards of service to theirs. |
Posted Tue Dec 4, 2012 1:31PM | I'm happy to return it, I'm just not happy to lose money doing it. |
Posted Tue Dec 4, 2012 1:44PM | I made a withdraw of my istock payment to my bank account before a saw it was double. I issue one of them after seeing the notice email. What is gonna happens to my withdraw to my bank account ? Are they going to transfer the right amount ? |
       Posted Tue Dec 4, 2012 1:44PM | I withdraw them both ! |

I returned too, at once yesterday, but now I think that I'm not honest, but stupid. I should have kept the money in account the next "Refund for a Puchase". By the way, Sljocke, the last week refund thread is locked too, so, I can not take advantage of your advice to post there. It seems to be uncomfortable topic for IS, although quite different than in the previous thread. I did not ask for Purchases at all, only for acceptable return term. Rather than answer, Stock shut my mouth. That was not polite...
And about the duplicate payments. I asked Janet about the return account, which is correct. Janed answered: Either is fine.
No, Janet, you mislead contributors. There IS NOT the paypal account accounting@gettyimages.com.
I returned to the accounting@istockphoto.com

If you got a duplicate, just go to Paypal and use the "refund" link on the payment. It isn't hard.

I've tried this, but PP is telling me there is not enough funds in my balance to refund it (there is twice the amount needed in there to refund it) and it wants to use my banbk account as a source of payment.
That's exactly what happened in my case. Unfortunately I didn't read it properly and clicked the refund through. Gave me a load of grief, so be careful.
I still want to know what is going to be done about the amount it actually cost me in the exchange process. If I click a link that says it's going to take the money for the refund from my linked account that's one thing and it's my problem. Me having to refund a greater amount than that paid because of Paypal's exchange rate is quite another. It's iStock's error and I really do expect them to reimburse me. I asked about this last night via email, and in the forums. You've had your refund, or at least you will when the echeque clears. Can we please have an answer on this. Ignoring it is not going to make it go away. It is a reasonable request. |

I got a reply from Janet McClelland stating we will be reimbursed for the exchange rate loss. |
Posted Tue Dec 4, 2012 4:04PM | Thanks Andrew. Nothing here yet, but I assume I'll be hearing from her. |
      Posted Wed Dec 5, 2012 1:13AM | Cheers Andrew. |
Posted Wed Dec 5, 2012 5:55AM | I transfer both to my bank account ( i was on my cell phone i didn't check if the payment was right) , then received the notice email. I used the refund link on the payment. Wow it was fast ! Faster than receiving my istock payment in my bank account ! so it's now my bank account that is - _ _ _ $ ! Super ! |

This is my experience of trying to issue a refund.
I tried to issue the refund, only to be told there was not enough in my account to cover it ( there was, I had the amount IS sent plus about £1.20 already in there ) It said it would take money from my bank account to cover the unspecified amount that was needed to make up the balance. I cancelled the transaction at that point. The money is still in my PayPal account

Posted Wed Dec 5, 2012 1:20PM | What happens if you keep the money and let Istock do the math from future sales until the balance is reached? That way you don't pay any charges for giving back the money. Of course, the way Istock is right now, maybe nobody can be spared to look after these accounts. |
Posted Wed Dec 5, 2012 4:38PM | Alright folks. Allow me to clarify a few things:
Contributors will not be required to pay any transaction fees or the like due to this double payment.
If you prefer to hold on to the double payment then we will deduct from your future payments.
How to complete the refund via PayPal
Once logged into your paypal account, select ‘My recent activity’ find the payment from iStockphoto. Click on ‘details’. In the detail view you will see an option to ‘Issue a refund’. Select this option and confirm the refund. And email notification will be sent to accounting@istockphoto.com. In the event that you attempt to refund using accounting@gettyimages.com you can rest assured that will be fine as well.
We apologize for the confusion and any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any additional questions or concerns please contact accounting@istockphoto.com |
Posted Wed Dec 5, 2012 4:49PM | We just hope that the double payments will not be deducted from future payments of contributors who have already made return. Everything is possible here... |
