Thank you for the excellent, concise, and thoughtful feedback that I, like many other contributors, would hope is taken up in true business spirit by Istock management.  Isotckphoto has been a trend-setter and has acquired worldwide recognition through smart business strategies and good quality of content attracted from thousands of contributors over many years.  The company has built an enviable niche in the marketplace undoubtedly through many satisfied and repeat buyers of Istock content.  This could not have happened on its own.  Someone at Istockphoto (the team) made this happen. Today, it is perhaps time for Istockphoto to revisit their market stance both from a buyer and from a contributor perspective, because both these groups are pivotal stakeholders in Istock's success.  The ball rests firmly in the hands of Istockphoto's management.  As a contributor I wish for Istockphoto to continually succeed because therein lies the success for all of us contributors as well.

Istock is listening I'm sure. Unfortunately it seems they need everything to go through Getty first. And Getty don't read istock forums.

This is the environment for long time ahead I'm afraid. Better get used to it, and try to do best with what we got.

That's stunning. How can BM be claimed to be anything but completely broken with results like that?

That is sorting by File Age even though the dropdown shows Best Match. That happens occasionally to me, I think when I'm messing with the sort drop-down before the page finishes loading, or using the browser's back button too quickly or something. I suggest clearing your cache and trying it again, my bm shows totally different results and file age is the same as yours (plus some new files).

^ I think you may be correct. I have seen that quite a bit too (says "Best Match" but is actually "file age"). It's still a problem because there won't be anyone there to tell unaware buyers that is what is happening when they do a "best match" search.

Tried performing that search - Switched to file age (got different results) and switched back to best match - got results very similar to those in screenshot.

I get that problem too after messing with the drop down box. It says best match but shows file age.

I tried performing that search "Livingroom + Interior" with 50 images per page and the first 50 images are okay. The next page of images is a total disaster

yes, the opinion of the buyers are correct, but Getty is not interested in reading this. We should all send letters at snail-mail to the adress of HQ Getty. A lot of paper they can not ignore!

Speed: agree 100%. Every time I try to show off istock to a new potential client or even to a colleague, the site loads so painfully slowly that we are often forced to give up. I assume the bunch of javascript processes that are running have something to do with that. Whether it is or not, the coding here really needs cleaning up.

Thank you for all the other comments too. Hope someone is taking note. The last newsletter suggests that istock takes concerns raised in the forums seriously.

I can assure you we are taking more than notes. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to take this opportunity to point a few things out. Before I do I will add another quote from this thread:

There has a growing assumption that the issues brought to our attention via the forums falls on deaf ears. I can assure you this isn't the case. The number of departments and numerous levels of staff and management(iStock AND Getty) are reviewing and engaged in providing clarity to questions raised here in our forums has only increased over the last year. Okay, that said, we should also recognize that when there is a lack of communication or a delay in providing a response it would appear as if we have abandoned the membership. Our challenge is to figure out how we can share enough to credibly answer the many specific questions without tipping our hand in a public forum. We continue to find that balance beween substance and transparency in the forums.

Now, regarding the speed issue. Our team is working on better instrumenting the site to measure speed from all locations worldwide, and to ensure we can keep better track of performance over time. It's an ongoing process but we are definitely on it.

I find the wording interesting. Especially "credible", "balance", "transparency".

And no, that is not your challenge. Your challenge is to not have that challenge. And then it would help a lot to not have to consider credibility.

Fair enough. I guess the point is we aren't abandoning the discussion.

IMHO, it would be easy to solve with a sticky thread like "We have heard!" and post a message of the subject heard and below - Our team will answer within 72hs this subject right here!

So, this way at least membes know that was at least heard and something will be answered and some action will be done!

This sounds like deja vu all over again. I would suggest that collectively over the years iStock would be a Black Diamond canister holder for mea culpas when it comes to (eventual) apologies for bad communication.

Lets see more results of this reviewing and engagement of clarity rather than the easily misunderstanable brevity and levity too often deployed in these forums.
