Yes, the files with fewer dls [fewer than 10], and new ones do not stand a chance. From my perspective absolutely no chance for files from bronze contributors to get any dl, as not many of us have files with more than 100dls, for example.

A slight chance for dl but not much of one.  Could be stuck at bronze for a long time.  We'll see what TPTB come up with over the next few days and make decisions from there as to where we as individuals go from here.

Appreciate the effort though.

Non exclusive files are being really boosted by this current bm. How can an exclusive file compete with a non-exclusive file which has a good search placement? We have more expensive files. We need a better boost.

I am sorry but what changes are you referring to? The one where sales are decreasing further?

The only change for me is that I am wasting spending days re-keyworking my portfolio.

Alright, everyone. We are going to start a new thread tomorrow after we have a chance to complete our review of the state of things since the changes on the 4th of Feb. We appreciate your input and hope we can provide some of the changes people are hoping for. Clearly, and as always, we aren't going to please everyone. That said, we aren't going to lose track of these discussions as they are going to be a part of our regularly scheduled communications going forward.

Thank you, folks.

Well it is like Christmas here for me, unfortunately I mean it is like Christmas week sales.  I am hoping everything will settle down soon enough but it is make life a little tough.

Just echoing the observations by others that the December BM changes completely buried middle aged files, particularly files uploaded in the last few months of 2012, with those uploaded just before the change spending almost no time in front pages.
Very noticeable with my small port.
Subsequent dial twiddling has done nothing to give these files an airing.

This is my current experience too. Making life very worrying as even though small, my iStock income is important to me.

We can go on and on about what is found and what is not found in BM, but before Lobo closes down this thread, I would like to ask what I think is the larger issue in all this because a lot of the posts I see now are contributors jockeying to make BM more favorable towards them and their own work.

Search Fairy wrote on Feb 4, "Good news! We found a problem that has been contributing to the poor results for multiple keyword searches, and the fix will be coming out this afternoon." We, as contributors, have been screaming loud, and even more loudly as time went on, that there was a problem as soon as the September 2012 update was implemented.

The larger macro question I have is: Why didn't the company believe that there was a problem and take action sooner?

Glad to see BM working better. I don't see immediate problem now. Hopefully everybody will be bit happier now.

Mr.Barnes: I can try to provide some clarity on that. There are lots of things going on. We have a number of issues that the contributors have brought to our attention. It's taken some time to make all the different departments aware of how linked everything is. As you might also know, we had some layoff last year that required a considerable amount of time adjust too.

It's not as simple to keep things a float as it might seem. That said, we are getting to a place where we can discuss SOOO much more than we have over the last few years. It's something we hope that will provide us with an to opportunity improve our relations with all of our valued contributors. Be they Non-exclusive or Exclusive. It doesn't matter. The people who choose to contribute here have made an investment with us so it's only fair we show outwardly that we are invested in them.

That said, we still have a long road ahead of us. We don't expect high fives and parades just because we are getting back to the point where we have reopened communication channels. We will continue to dialogue with the contributor base and make changes to the way we address their concerns. All of this is as important to you as it is to us.

On the information people have been providing us: We review their concerns and do our own investigation based on what they are posting. Now, I don't have to tell you that we have found that in some cases there are some 'creative embellishments' to some of the posts, but it all helpful. We should have more to share later today.

"because a lot of the posts I see now are contributors jockeying to make BM more favorable towards them and their own work. "

I'm actually quite liking the current BM. As long as I have been here it's favoured one segment or another, and once it changes another group will complain. Sometimes it's me complaining, sometimes others, it's always been that way.

Indeed. We have no way to please everyone. The reality is BM is for Buyers, not Contributors. However, we do understand that if things are borked it effects everyone.

Lobo, in your opinion is BM/search still borked?

I think we are getting things in better shape. We still have work to do. I can assure you that a big chunk of my day is dedicated to reviewing BM and communicating upwards.

I also have a few people outside of the admin sphere providing me with an incredible amount of detail which always takes time to dissect. Make no mistake, BM is an ongoing adventure. In allowing people to openly discuss it with us we are better able to address the concerns people have.

The new rule is BM is something we talk about. It's no longer following the Fight Club creed. If you follow me
