And now for some more good news: we'll be restoring basic zoom functionality next week (Dec 10 - 14). The exact date is dependent on the release schedule, but we're sure it'll be available during the work week. In January we'll be releasing some performance improvements and additional features to the zoom tool, so that should be something to look forward to after the New Year.

Great! And please don't forget to tell the buyers that zoom is available again. It would be a pity if the re-implementation of zoom went unnoticed...

Howdy!

Basic Zoom will be live in the next half hour or so. One change is that the feature will be available to both logged out AND logged in users. We also changed how the content loads, so the use of the tool is a little more seamless (no annoying spinning wheels).

In the New Year we'll be rolling out some additional features. More about them as the date approaches!

Enjoy -

Jay

Hi, TechVeep and KingCash!

You should be aware that this forum is used mainly by contributors, and that not very many buyers bother to visit or look here. It's great that you're keeping us informed of new and soon-to-be stuff (Thanks!), but it would be better if iStock sent out an email newsletter to everyone so that all buyers knew of the improvements, too.

We're planning on announcing these features via our marketing, newsletter, and social media channels as well! Just wanted to give our Contributors and other forum readers the good news!

Hi Kris,

I'm not sure if you have sent out the newsletter to buyers yet, but would it be possible to also include a reminder about the price slider?  Given that a lot of the search results are filled with files transferred from Getty Images, it would be good to remind the buyers that these files can be excluded by bumping down the slider one notch (obviously don't say that is the reasoning for the reminder - it might just help the buyers know it exists if they previously didn't!).

Thanks,
Rob

ETA: Figures, I posted this as Jay gave the good news about the zoom!  Awesome Jay!  But still, if the newsletter hasn't been sent, my request still stands...

Great to have it finally back!

Not sure about the loading speed though, seems identical or even slower than before. Or maybe there's still some optimization going on at the back end...?

As suggested above, it might be a good idea to remind buyers that there's a "zoom slider" also for the price. Current BM results favor expensive content and not all customers are rich or iStock power users how remember/know all the features.

Good stuff, thanks.

Is it my imagination or is the zoomed picture box bigger than before?

The transition has always been there. It goes from sRGb to whatever  colour format you uploaded in (ie aRGB) at that transition.

Indeed it is working and IMO much quicker then before, much more responsive. Good job guys, thanks a lot.

I think the colour shift has to do with a colour profile used for displaying on the web, but when zoomed in it accesses the full res image not converted for web viewing that is why you guys see a shift. All my images are Adobe RGB so when zoomed the colours are less vibrant, this is normal.
