Posted Mon Dec 10, 2012 9:22AM | Hi All I am working with my client on a re-brand (fresh new look). They are 30 years old and it's been 8 years since their last re-brand. Their corporate font is currently Arial. I am looking for suggestions for a new sans serrif font with a more modern look which has a comprehensive family. It is a hardware company. The font must be carried through from business cards and sales specials to billboards. Hope I have given you enough info - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am happy to buy the font family. Thanks in advance for any assistance Laura |

So I don't know what to recommend, but I found this and thought it might help you. It's not all just sans serif, though. http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/03/20/60-brilliant-typefaces-for-corporate-design/#comments Hope you find the perfect font for this company. |

Also, documents created in Word (for example) need to look the same for the receiver as they did when they left the sender. This might not happen if the receiver does not have the 'corporate' font. The technology is afoot to make embedding fonts in web media a bit easier, but how quickly or widely it is being adopted, I don't know. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Thu Jan 17 10:47PM | Don't misunderstand, I'm not sulking either (all in jest) but times have changed, needless to say. The people who were once bustling with feedback in the forums are still here (myself included). I check in every day and silently observe but rarely post anymore for reasons not neccesarily ralated to istock. However, I agree that we do need fresh optimism. |

I knew that ...Okay, well ... let's all stop silently observing and be freshly optimistic. I will tell you that I got fed up that forum notifications stopped working for me (a long time ago). So I'd post questions and think no one was responding, only to find out months later that I was getting answers, just no emails telling me so. I only just recently learned that you have to set it to "unscribe" in order to subscribe ... okaaaayyyy. And there are folks who got booted off that I miss. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Thu Jan 24 4:34PM | Hi there mtngigi! I just noticed this post as well, it's been awhile you've probably already picked the font, but the main sans serif font I would suggest is FRUTIGER STD. All the weights you'd need plus a condensed version. The realy beauty in this font is the Light and Thin weights. It's very nice, easy to set headings and nice easy body copy. Another I'd suggest, but would be secondary to Frutiger is DIN. Hope this helps, if I'm too late, well maybe it'll help someone else in need of a recommendation |

I'm so happy to be getting notices again that I can live with the gap - although it is rather ridiculous. I wonder what the problem is? |

I used to love this forum too, the help, opinons, commentarys etc... And the designer spotlight, and all the critique and opinions that went with it too. all of it. It was great. Plus it was the part of istock that was for it's customers as opposed to its suppliers. Sure there wasn't a massive amount of people hanging around here, but it was certainly busier than it is now. It'd be great if they spent a little bit of time giving the whole "Designer" section a reboot, and actually cater for (and mebbie even attract some more of) their core, loyal customers. Kickstarting the Spotlight would help. |

Kickstarting the Spotlight would help. Seems a lot of things changed after they did the site redesign, although that may be been a coincidence. Personally, I've had very little work over the last few years and that has impacted things for me a great deal. It's been depressing trying to hang on for dear life. I do miss being a more active member of this great community. Let's all try and liven things up a bit - okay? I'll start by checking out your latest DS contribution. |
