Posted Thu Dec 13, 2012 4:33PM | Hi iStock Community,
My name is Helen and I work in the iStock eCommerce department with a focus on optimizing our site’s landing (entry) pages. My job is to understand how customers interact with iStock’s most frequently-visited pages, and how we can increase that level of interaction and, ultimately license more of your content.
Over the past few months, the team here has been working on improving our iStock Home Page. We have now tested, in 2 phases, a total of 8 different designs and layouts. Our goal was to get more of our customers and community searching, browsing and downloading the images, illustrations, video and audio on our site.
The winning design (see below) increased the number of downloads and more people interacted with our site. We are planning to show this new design of the Home Page for all US & Canadian visitors next week and we will then update across all languages, after we have received all the translations. As part of this process we have also upgraded our Search Engine Optimization efforts so that more potential customers can find our site through search engines, like Google.
We are planning to continue testing and optimizing the home page in early 2013 and will begin a similar process on other key pages on our site too. I will keep you posted on our results and plans here in the forums.

I like it too.
One question, how frequently will the images be replaced? Daily? Weekly? Monthly?

No one should have to scroll to see the rest of the page. I don't care for it. Doesn't conform well at all to any standards of accessibility around WCAG 2.0.

Yes it is "very windows 8" but... I like it anyway. There is a lot going on but it all works well together. Choice of imagery is key in this type of layout. |

Nice. But if the categories are going to be there right in the middle, it would be nice if they were updated. The current categories are so outdated and irrelevant, at least for my images.

Very nice, I have seen it in the past couple months these constantly changing designs and thought that I'm going crazy, at least now I know that I wasn't |
        Posted Thu Dec 13, 2012 5:10PM | Looks cool.
Put one of my pictures on the front page and it'd be perfect! |
Posted Thu Dec 13, 2012 5:18PM | Refreshing and nice. Hopefully, by next week and the launch of this initiative, when people do a search they'll see reliable, relevant results with a nice spread of products no matter what string of words they use. That's what I asked for Christmas this year |

You actually don't look cruel, though. You have a very nice smile.
