I like it. Looks great on the iPad in portrait. Landscape you have to scroll down to see the rest of the page but it still looks amazing. Nice job! I noticed that the photos do change - in fact, the page I just looked at is totally different than the example shown in the OP. Thank you for all your work on this!

So is the new homepage on? Sorry if I missed the launch, but I still see the old layout, and not the one posted by the OP.

This might be totally off topic but I've had the same pictures on the mobile app for ages (like a year or something). There's only a certain amount of frilly knickers and scary bears I can take. Why can't they be updated regularly?

Well, i think I notice that the "categories" on the home page are not the categories we get to stick on our submissions. Am I wrong?

I like the the new ones better, how about changing the categories available for submitting images to match.

Based on earlier comments, I'm propably in the minority... But not impressed at all. Sorry.

1. Titles of the image tiles are not legible unless you roll over. Very stupid because how do you know where to move the cursor if you can't even read half of the titles? Fresh beginnings and Food and drink are propably the most ridiculous. Never seen links like this on a big commercial site.

2. If you do roll over the image, the image disappears and is replaced with dark turquoise square. Yes, the title is finally readable, but hiding the image is a weird solution. There are hundreds of more current and cool looking rollover styles to choose from. Maybe softly zoom in the image a bit and make it darker. Or something. Anything.

3. Boxes/tiles are currently in vogue mostly because of high demand for responsiveness (sites intelligently re-arranging themselves for different sized mobile devices). But the new iStock homepage is not responsive, so what's the point?

The new design doesn't present iStock as a special, premium quality microstock site that it is. It looks kind of generic to me. I'm not saying that any of our comptetitors have better looking solutions. But since iStock is different (higher prices, more exclusive content) we should look the part. Not expensive, but incredible quality of images should be shown off in big size, not in tiny squares. Maybe even as a kind of background slide show with landing page UI over the images. That would look awesome and strongly state why we still earn our place in the business. It would be as easy to make responsive as well. Backrgound images would scale and move around and the UI could be arranged differently based on window/screen size.

Maybe iStock could use some outside UI/UX folks to design the landing page? First impressions are important.

What happened to the new homepage? I saw it live, once or twice (very briefly) a couple of weeks ago but it's has since reverted back to the 'old' homepage for me. I regularly clear my cache but that makes no difference. Was the roll-out put on hold or am I the only one still not seeing the fresh new look?

It has been as described by Helen since the roll out. I don't know whats up with your view, unfortunately.

I think they said, somewhere, that viewing the new home page was being rolled out gradually. One thing that may affect what you see is which region you are in and being logged in or out may affect what you see too. I'm in the UK and see the old style home page when logged in but the new one when logged out.

I like it as well...Looks great on the ipad too.

"Starting in May, we will feature a Lightbox on the site’s landing (entry) pages - both on the logged in main page AND the logged out main page - that is curated from one of the Weekly Showcase threads. The Lightboxes will be titled Artist's Picks and will start being visible on May. "

That makes it even better...great idea. Hope this will include all media.
