The English word folk is derived from a Germanic noun, fulka meaning 'people' or 'army' (i.e. a crowd as opposed to "a people" in a more abstract sense of clan or tribe).
In other words, the wide use of 'folks' is based on a misapprehension – the same misapprehension that has early learners of English declaring that they have seen a field of sheeps. Or cattles.
When it comes to information it is popular to discredit Wikipedia. Copying Hollywood is more risky.
That's all, folk!

I suppose you would say that a steer caught on a cow-catcher at 50mph had Dodged the train, Ted.
Clearly there is no future in trying to educate in these forums. I'm heading for the Golf course.

Jeep puns don't lead to a Cord.
I'm not a Golf player, so I'll suck on a Polo.

Dave, why did Roger bring all this up? He's not Odyssey??
Anyway, Isetta high bar for you guys - Ramblers though you be. So I'm hoping you reach an Accord here soon.
I'd say "Two for one! Two for one!!" on that last, but too late. Dave already tied the Cord around that Rabbit. I guess I'm not Fit for Civic discussion with the Smart...Two of you.
