With about $75% down on last month this December has been the worst month since Janurary 2011 before becoming an exclusive.

First 6 months of this year were fine, last few months were rubbish, 7dls this month.

Comparing December which has always been my best month of the year:

dls -69% from 2011

$$ -56 from 2011

The last time my downloads were this low was November 2010 when I had less than half my current portfolio. Last time monthly earnings were this low was February of 2011.

I earned slightly more money this year, but comparing the last quarter my earnings were down 45% from last year after increasing my portfolio by 25% in 2012.

December 2012 had less downloads than December 2011 despite my portfolio nearly doubling during the year. I had a good first week, but then came the end of the "Tyranny of the new" horrific BM shake which instantly cut my downloads by 30-50% (70% of my portfolio was uploaded in the last 18 months) and had me down to almost complete inactivity for the last 10 days of the month, whereas last year these last 10 days were not markedly lower than the rest of the month. Christmas on a tuesday certainly didn't help, I'll admit, but still...

2012 was very, very good for me apart from November and December: overall, I tripled my revenues from 2011. It was my first complete year as an exclusive. It might be my last if things don't turn around fast in the first quarter of 2013.

Happy new year everyone!

At 12:00 mid-night tonight the US goes over the fiscal cliff. My fiscal cliff at iStock started in September and is the worst 4th quarter that I can remember. December was a disaster. Alexa stats show iStock in a free-fall from which it will be hard to recover. I need to find a lifeboat. Since I am not the Captain here I don't need to go down with the ship! Happy New Year to all.

The fiscal clift is a trick of some republican reps to save their face in front of the tea party, they will aprove the governmrnt plan in january, it will be a tax reduction move by then, therefore they will not break their "never increase taxes praise" in front of the radical fanatic faction of the republican party. Nothing to do with IS september contributor crucifixtion.

Pretty much the same as many others here.

Approx -50% in $$ and a whopping -65% in DLs compared to Dec 2011. Worst month of the year by far and Worst month since the summer of 2009.

The last quarter has been horrific. I would really like to hear a decent explanation as to why so many of us are experiencing such similar nose-dives since September - it has nothing to do with 'extra weekends in the month' or an increase in contributors and files, something bigger is going on.

The lights were shining brightly for me until the 14th when they dimmed considerably.  They went out completely after the 21st.  If the trend of the last 10 days continues I'll never see another download.

Whiskey will be my constant companion tonite as we usher in the New Year.  Time to switch gears beginning tomorrow.

December Sucked! My sells fall off the last 4 months. Why? Was doing over 700 DLS a month for the first 8 months. Dec was 272 DLS. Money fell off as well. I'm not happy. The economy had nothing to do with it. It's the new way istock has people looking at the iamges. I had 3 days with 0 sales in December 2012. That's never happened before.

December 2012 had almost half the number of Downloads and two thirds the royalties of December 2011.

2012 appears ok - downloads slightly up and royalties up by a third on 2011, but this came nowhere near meeting my expectations.

Basically the first three months of 2012 where fantastic, April-June good, July-August very dissapointing and September to December- a disaster.

Why? who knows for sure, but I think that there are three main causes, a) the big push for E+ back in the Spring. It might have made contibutors feel good being able to charge more for there photos but I reckon the buyers just saw an enormous price increase on all the best files and went to our competitors. b) The September technical problems, and c) the BM problem, the domination of Getty imports in the best match obviously does not help iStock contributors but more importantly it gives rubbish search results, so chasing off our few remaining buyers.

I could forgive all these mistakes, if I was conviced that iStock is just as desperate to sell our images as we are, but my fear is that they are happy to let us go in favour of using iStock as just another shop window for Getty collections.

After some months of declining income I was was actually up a bit compared to Dec 2011. I think the new BM provides increased visibility of some older, better-selling images, so hopefully we won't have to re-invent our entire portfolio every two years. Very positive results and I'm hoping Istock has turned the corner in their and our fortunes.

Here's to a great 2013 and let's hope it will be "meeting expectations" for all of us!

Dec. was about the same as Oct. and Nov.  Terrible last quarter of the year.

Overall, this year was down 12% from last year.  Very discouraging.

December was WMOTY in Dls and $$ by far.

2012 was a fantastic year until beginning of september. September till November were not that bad,but I saw a constant decline  as most contributors here  in iStock DLs and revenues. And less E + Dls. In former times 4-5 images out of 20 were E+, after September I had a ratio of about 0-2 out of 20.  Slightly better after zoom-repair.  New images sell once or twice and stop selling afterwards...Anyway, I m looking forward to 2013 and for a more sophisticated BM ranking.

WMOTY and then Sept - Nov were bad as well. Had more than twice as many DL:s in Dec 2008 sad and only 50% less in Dec 2007 when I had been half a year on iStock and my portfolio was tiny.

3 Sales in the Last 10 days.

Have had blind faith for a while, starting to question that.

Harder to strategize or draw inspiration with no way to count views.

I wonder why the reply counter and all the other counters are working so well?

Happy New Year! Maybe....really, I am smiling.
