Posted Tue Jan 15 5:51AM | Someone pushed the button on the new price point slider. Why did that person offer no explanation or communication before they made this change live and effectively isolated Exclusive contributors from searches? |
Posted Tue Jan 15 6:02AM | ^ Tommy, I think this is communication and it is not a very nice message. |

Ivanjekic carsko, still laughing !
Hvala - Thanks shipshit, but apparently the hammer guy likes to crack his own jokes, so the post was deleted. Boo! |

WOW, I see that the only changes inthe way we communicate have been for the worse. I just added a very sincere, not antagonistic, topic to the discussion forum and before I could go fill my coffee cup and walk back to the computer it was gone.
Just now received a site mail saying that if I had any suggestions for iStockphoto they should be posted in the suggestion forum (where they are sure to never be seen). I will attempt to post it there but I assume it will also be deleted from there.
It is obvious that communication with istock contributors/customers (of which I am both) is not a priority.

Posted Thu Jan 17 11:24AM | The main communication we remaining Exclusives really need is; do they have any plan to bring back buyers from the cheap sites, or when we continue to yell in the halls at iStock, will the only reply be our echo returning from a big, empty cavern? |

What cheap sites? istock's main competition hasn't lowered their prices over the years, they've raised them. Just not as much as istock has. |

That's how business works. If the (used to be a) leader in the industry raised prices, others could do it too, they just had to stay cheaper to have any chance. |
Posted Fri Jan 18 12:25AM | In every case, iStock has a very "special" way of communicating. While on other sites I read forums to learn, discover and enjoy, this place feels like deep cave of depression possesed by evil forces of greedy corporation where free artists go to be enslaved and eaten. |

Posted Sun Jan 20 5:42PM | Heading back to the topic of this thread, I understand that it is a bad idea to communicate late on a Friday afternoon. Here it is Monday morning. In a few more hours it will be Monday morning in Calgary and the Western parts of the USA and time to make some sort of communication with the contribuotrs that have produced the stuff that made iStock what it was. No doubt you will have seen the absolute chaos going on in various threads and that will only increase until there is some word from above. Whatever those words will be, they will put alot of people at ease ... they will either quit, or they will hang tight. With the start of a new week, why not start it by saying something? |
Posted Sun Jan 20 6:30PM | As I write this it's 630 PM Sunday evening in Calgary, while I'm hopeful there will be some positive communication from HQ, I doubt we'll hear anything for another 18 hours at best, sometime tomorrow afternoon (Calgary time). As for the content of the communication, well . . . |

I shall not hold my breath waiting for any communication today, my bet is a feeble toe in the water from an admin on Wednesday and nothing from RR until the summer.

Posted Tue Jan 22 12:28AM | I have to say, this new policy isn't going very well is it?
-1 for the complete inability to keep any promise, any time, any how. |
Posted Tue Jan 22 1:50AM | I'm so tired of this all. I gave up my crown a few minutes ago. No iStock/ Getty future for me anymore.
Thank you to all for what I've learned here.
I say goodbye and all the best.

This is the worst organized, ignorant and careless company in the Universe!

/It is odd, I keep on checking back to the forums to see if there's been any update from some individual who's paid (quite handsomely, I'd imagine) to run this place, or possibly I've had a sale. Pretty unsatisfactory on both counts, as it turns out.
So I've resigned myself to the fact that iStock as we knew it is no more. It's dead. It is an ex agency, and I'm planning accordingly. I'm pretty gutted, for myself things were starting to get going nicely. But I really feel for those contributors who helped build this place. Shameful way to be treated. I hope those responsibe for this downfall are proud of themselves. Their decisions will be studied for years to come, and their actions & competence will be questioned by students from across the world. So well done guys, you'll be famous! |
Posted Tue Jan 22 9:25AM | At the risk incurring the wrath of certain folks with lots of merit badges, and revealing that I am in my 8th decade of this life (that doesn't necessarily make me smarter, often feel just the opposite), let me say that I have seen many, many take overs and mergers, four by the Carlyle Group alone (motto - No one is too small to crush! ), and can say that anyone expecting things to improve simply doesn't understand that the purpose of this business is NOT to provide support for the contributors, employees nor customers. The only purpose of a company is to grow or die, growth usually means more employees so they can have more bosses, more minions to boss around and more boxes on an organogram to diffuse the responsibility to the point where one ends up with a homeopathic company. There are other companies in many countries to send your images to and who knows, you may help create the next iStock. The folks running IS now seem to be believing in their own press clippings from years past, but they are really now reduced to being guppies in the ocean. They remind me of old men ( I are one) sitting around a bar talking about the last high school footbal game they never played in, the older they get, the better they were!
This was fun, this mushroom/cockroach feels better now, they rest of you should reallly learn your place...Back to uploading instaed of whining
