Don't worry, it happens to everyone when they first start contributing. Here are some great places to begin your iStock exploration. The Help Forums and FAQs are here to help you get on your feet. If you have any questions or there's something that you don't understand, just drop a message in the forum. There is bound to be somebody who can help you out. We also have a very comprehensive Contributor Guide. While it mostly focuses on photographers, most of the information in this thread will be useful for contributors of any file type. We strongly recommend you give this a read-through before posting questions in the forums as odds are it's already covered somewhere in this Guide. If you're feeling lost and can't find your way around the site, check out the Site Map. It may point you in the right direction. For additional information about who's who around here, please check out this forum thread. It's not always current but it's a good introduction to most of the Admins, Inspectors and iStock/Getty Images staff you might see posting in the forums. Another great, and oft-overlooked, resource is the little blank field at the bottom of the Forums. This is a search field. Just type in your question, select which forum you'd like to look through and hit the little gray icon with a magnifying glass on it. You'll be amazed at how much information on iStock is living in our forums, waiting to be searched. (Edited on 2013-04-05 17:19:53 by bortonia) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Thu Jan 10 10:11AM | Raster Illustrations A 'raster' illustration is any image that's pixel based. This includes scans or photographs of hand drawn mediums (paintings, sketches, mixed media collages, etc). It also includes any artwork created in digital painting programs, or 3D rendering software. However when you go to upload an 'Illustration' here on iStock, you'll see it only supports vector file formats. This doesn't mean that we're not looking for other illustration mediums, though. It's a little confusing, but all you need to do is submit your application under the 'Photographer' application. You don't need to upload photos, you can just upload your illustrations as RGB JPEG files. Make sure that your scans are super high quality and that there's no dust or scratches, and if you're photographing your own work you'll want to set your camera to max quality and be careful of your lighting. If you have any questions about uploading raster illustrations please contact Contributor Relations (artists[at]istockphoto.com). (Edited on 2013-03-04 11:24:16 by bortonia) |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Thu Jan 10 10:12AM | EPS Upload Errors From time to time you might get an error message that reads "The illustration does not appear to be an EPS file". This is a relatively common error, however it's not an error from iStock: It's an error from your web browser. This most commonly occurs in Firefox (though it can happen in any browser), and it's called a MIME-Type error. Basically, what has happened is your browser is no longer able to identify an EPS file. This error can also affect ZIP files during the application process or when you're trying to upload an alternate ZIP file. If this happens, all you need to do is switch to another browser to upload your file. The error message will stop as soon as you switch. (Edited on 2013-03-04 11:24:34 by bortonia) |
